I am really shocked at the Bettendorf score, I was thinking it would be a tight game

I'm not so much. ICW's numbers have been cut pretty drastically now that Liberty has been open a few years. Their seniors were allowed to finish at ICW last year. This is the first year Liberty has been close to a full size school.

I bet you have to go back over 40yrs to find the last time Iowa City High and West started the season 0-2

Not quite. Well, at least ICW anyway (missed the part where you mentioned City High the first time). They had a prolific losing streak back in the early 90's around the time the CF/Waterloo schools joined the MVC. Something in the neighborhood of 4 or 5 straight years. Was the longest losing streak in state history, if my memory serves, until Waterloo East broke that a few years back.

Of course City High was a powerhouse back then.

To be honest, I’m least surprised by the Bett-ICW score. The Liberty effect had been lingering in the underclassman games the past few years. It’s here now
Don't let that score under sell the talent left on this West team, between the QB, several skill position players and the defensive quickness (not to mention the coaching), I suspect they could still surprise a few teams this year.

I can see that, for sure, but they’re not close to elite right now
