Updates and comments. Flu, GI virus going around. Dubuque Senior point guard and top scorer out indef. with foot injury. What could impact your game tonight?

Grand View Christian toyed with Diagonal in a makeup game last night - 94-7.
That can't be much fun for either team. I heard it was still a shutout at halftime.

We'll see how the light competition impacts GV Christian when tougher teams present themselves on the tournament trail.

Yeah. The Diag crowd went nuts when they finally sunk a basket to make it 82-2.

The Bluegrass conference is always a challenge to get good competition... GV rolled over CMB and I know they'd like more non-conference games, especially now that everyone's healthy & out of 90 day waiting.

In fairness to Diagonal, they are the smallest school in the state.....like they have a total of 40 kids in their entire high school.....and Grand View is very good with their press. GV put up something like 40 pts in the 1st Qtr, which I would assume would have been layups off their press.

Last year Diagonal had a decent team in the conference and GV still nearly doubled them up twice.

Yes, it'd be tough with a school that size!! The people were really nice and we were impressed with sportsmanship - no dirty play coming out from losing team like we've seen a lot from other teams this year!! Also - best concession stand for a small town! Lol.

DM Hoover beat DM North @ North--56 to 51 in 3 overtime. Lots of free throws. Four Hoover players fouled out and one for North. Both teams had several others with 4 fouls. First game in December at Hoover also went into overtime. Great atmosphere.

Pella Christian played very well, especially defensively, on the road in the Little Hawkeye Conference in defeating Grinnell on the road. I haven't seen the stats, but PC was lead offensively by Kacmarynski (who probably had around 25 points) and Jungling. McKnight and Allen lead Grinnell, as expected, but the PC defense really wreaked havoc on Allen. Most of his points were in Q4 when the game was already essentially over.

In other LHC games, Newton missed the front end of a one-and-one at the end of regulation against Pella. In OT, Vander Leest hit a corner go-ahead three for Pella with about 6 seconds left, and Gholsen was fouled on a three attempt at the buzzer that would have tied it. He missed the first free throw, and Pella escapes again.

Vaske also hit the second of two free throws at the end of the game for Norwalk to knock off Oskaloosa.

The LHC is such a good and fun conference this year. DCG, still undefeated, leads the conference, and they host PC on Tuesday.

From talking with some folks, it sounded like Grand View did what they could to actually limit it. Pulled starters in the first quarter -- coaches met at half and Grand View's asked Diagonal what he would prefer they do in the 2nd half. The coach said something to the effect of just play it out. It sounded like the Diagonal crowd were good sports about it all.

Thanks for the highlights of the Little Hawkeye conf HawkPT. There are some down right competitive games there.

Wished I could've seen the North / Hoover game. Heard it was sold out and went to 3 OTs.

Last night...

Colo-NESCO 77, CMB 58

It was a good game up until about the last 2 min. CMB cut the lead to around 7-8, then had to start fouling to get possessions. C-N hit their FTs and CMB couldn't convert on the other end. I think C-N outscored them around 15-3 the last 2 minutes.
