lewis central 49 , harlan 14
i got to watch 2/3 of it on video, the game was on the internet if u knew where to look

harlan,s reciever was by himself, 20yds from goal line, qb puts it in his hands..he drops it...
harlan,s kicker muffed the ball twice deep in their terriorty , gave lewis central 2 easy scores.
another easy score from interception i believe

lewis central still the dominate team, no doubt about it...after watching most of the game, what surprised me was there is more to this team than max duggan, though he is a big part of it...if you key on max duggan, there at other players that will beat ya...lot of weapons on this team...bottom line, no one will shut down max duggan..its possible a team from the east may give them some trouble, but lewis central has to be the favorite.

Cedar Rapids Xavier 35, Western Dubuque 0 in battle of two top ten teams. Extremely impressive defense by top-ranked Xavier, considering all the record-breaking weapons WD has on offense.

Lewis Central is going to flatten anyone on the east side of the state. Pathetic they aren't playing 4A. Town of 62,000 is going to finally pickup their first public school state football title...but in 3A. Nice job Boone.

Xavier will have a say in that.

I don't think so. Pathetic they are playing in 3A too. Private school in a town of 126,000. Nice job Boone.

They should be bracketed with their peers in the "Large Private" Class and be thinking about their matchup with Dowling.

The only good thing I can say about this years projected 3A title game is that one of these 3A interlopers will lose.

Keep in mind that the town of 62000 has two other public schools and a Catholic school as well. But you're right. ...I think just about any public school in a large urban area in Iowa should be in 4A, regardless of the quality of their football program. Many such schools have terrible programs (the ones in SC & DM), but because of what they are, they should be 4A.

FWIW, there were many Heelan parents & alums who tried to keep Heelan in 4A....where they really belong as well.

And if the SB-L district keeps growing, they'll be there too.

Okay Stickman Valley has 1,998 students LC has 974 and LC beat Valley last year btw- Council Bluffs has 62,524 population- Des Moines 215,472.. My public school math shows Des Moines with nearly 4 times the population and twice the student body...where is the rational that LC should be at that level? The DMR said the greater Des Moines area has 634,725 residents and is the fastest growing area in the state. What LC is doing in an area that hasn't grown in 10 years in unheard of. Where's the love?

I stopped reading when you correlated Valley to Des Moines. Valley is in West Des Moines. Population of West Des Moines 56,609.

So Valley should be 3A in your book?

Your logic doesn't make sense. You think LC doesn't belong in 4A because the largest 4A school (Valley) is 2X their size YET you think LC fits in 3A where they are closer to 3X the size of the smallest 3A schools. With logic like that you should get a job in Boone.

Valley in 3A? Hardly. Even if they built a badly needed second high school they would still be 2 4A schools.

I actually have never been thrilled about LC being moved down to 3A. Boring games. You made the point that population wise Valley is separate than Des Moines and is is close in size to CB LC-66k -56k @ Valley. So the logic actually is there. If that's the case and that's the standard Valley should be @ 3A , bring them on down and we can kick their butt again.

i can remember lewis central getting beat by harlan a lot in 3a

LC used to get beat by a lot of people. Before Duggan came to the helm they were nothing special. They were like everyone else...in a year with the right kids they would be good...….without the right kids and they wouldn't be good.

When Duggan came to LC he not only was a great coach it was easy for the kids and parents to buy into him because his state titles had come from right there in CB (St Alberts).

Both Duggans will be sorely missed at LC.

That's fair-but couldn't the same thing be said about Harlan and Coach Bladt? It's all about leadership. It will be interesting to see how Harlan does when he stands down.

Another trend in 3A is rural Iowa is emptying out. Kids aren't coming home and it's harder to make a living in communities that size. This will play to the favor of the Glenwood's and LC's and Heelan's and hurt the Harlan's of our great state. I don't like it but it is happening.

This is a very good point.
