Regardless of records, that Newton game is a monster upset. Never saw that coming.

I did. I predicted Newton to come out of this substate. They are tough, versatile, and well-coached. Aside from a lack of depth (they only play 6-7) and girth, they have no weakness. They are ballers.

6 of 8 Little Hawkeye Conference teams remain and are playing in substate finals, and one of the two that are done was knocked out by a Little Hawkeye Conference foe (Grinnell over Norwalk).

Hey HawkPT - Was going to see if you caught that Newton win over Dowling. The Little Hawkeye is really showing well so far in the post season. I'd think PC and Pella win and make it to state (knocking out Grinnell). DCG-Boone is a toss up. MtP prob. over Osky. I think Newton can take Johnston.

WDM Valley vs. DSM Hoover should be a great game.

Going to be hard to watch the Hempstead-DBQ Senior game with a birth to state on the line. Senior is the more complete team and better designed to go farther in the state tourney. Still, heart if for Hempstead as whenever they have a good team, it just seems like they get close and don't make it to Des. Moines. Senior has won the 2 meetings this year.

That said, calling the upset and a Hempstead win.

LHC is showing strong.

PC has had 11 games this year against teams in substate finals including 8 in 3A and 2 in 4A.

It'll be interesting to see how the 2A field gets seeded. PC will have the fewest wins of any team in the field, but I think they have a strong argument for the #1 seed. Two of their 4 losses occurred when David Kacmarynski was out with an ankle sprain.
