Friday, Dec. 21 Scores, Comments

Cedar Falls 81 - Waterloo East 43, Final.

^^^Why is this team not ranked?! o_O

Agree, CF_93. When I watched Cedar Falls earlier this week against Wahlert, I thought they were the best team I've seen this season so far. I think the problem is that there are about ten or eleven really good teams in 4A this year, and you can be really good, but so is Sioux City East, IC West, Senior, Bettendorf, North Scott, Waukee, Davenport Central, Ankeny, etc.,etc. CF is ranked 9th or so in the INA newspaper sports writers poll which has Waukee #1. The big 4A conferences, especially the MVC, MAC and CIML are going to be absolutely brutal. SC East may dominate their conference out west.

Especially considering their only loss was an OT loss, the first game of the year, with many of the players having just finished playing football 2 weeks earlier in the state championship game, and not having their basketball legs and team chemistry just yet. This is not only a top 10 team, but a top 5 one.

Eastern:
Maquoketa actually beat Dyersville Beck. It was a good game I am told, but not an actual tie.

Did anyone see the Davenport Cen vs North Scott game? I've seen N.S. and they are good but Davenport Cen is a total wildcard for me. Thinking about trying to find a game in my area and watching them.

The game to see is going to be the Senior vs Cedar Falls game. Like others that have posted here, C.F. is the best team I have seen this year. Senior is solid and with Link back they are able to give C.F. a game.

My top five in the Valley headed into the break..
1. CR Prairie, I think this team is a state title contender, only loss at North Scott
2. Cedar Falls
3. IC West
4. Dbq Senior
5. Waterloo West

SC West winning at Omaha Skutt is significant. They were ranked #1 in Nebraska Class B, which is roughly equivalent to Iowa's 3A.
