First Round Playoff Talk

Overall, they are under-sized, but, have overall good team speed. 2 good rotating quarterbacks who both bring different skills depending on what the play is. They are good at the skill positions but lack size up front. They have mostly been able to overcome this until the Monte game who was able to shut down the run game forcing the pass. Monte took advantage of this and went to man coverage forcing 4 interceptions which resulted in 3 touchdowns. The defense is their strength with about 75% playing both ways. They are fast and aggressive. Monte was really only able to have 1 long sustained drive. They are well-coached and have seen just about every type of offense.

The L-S/G-R game was a great one. 2 really good defenses going at it. The 12-man penalty at the end was tragic for that young man! Other than the 2 really nice drives (both with big plays), L-S was able to contain G-R and cause a lot of havoc in the backfield. The big difference was L-S was unable to convert 3 drives deep in G-R territory. Monte's huge front is going to give G-R some trouble. It was hilarious hearing the G-R announcer butchering the Dutch last names of L-S. LOL!

The GR announcer is about 100 years old and still butchers the GR kids names. I'm just glad we cant hear him from where we stand.
GR has struggled with the rush up the middle for the last few games. What does Monte's offense look like? If I had to game plan for GR's offense, it would be a slow steady offense to keep them off the field. I'm not saying that GR's offense is unstoppable, (its lived off the big play vs good teams) but they have a knack for that big play when they need it.

Monte is almost strictly a power team (twin TE's) and is able to throw a pass in there now and again. Their QB & RB are big and strong and both run very well. They are not flashy. Their front line on both offense & defense is huge and strong. #66 is a beast. If G-R is going to win they are going to need to get the big plays with the QB rolling out because he's going to get creamed sitting in the pocket. That's how New London beat them.

New London beat Montezuma because they returned an INT for a TD and had Kick Off Return for a TD. New London's QB did not roll out of the pocket to beat Montezuma. New London played very well that night and made some big plays.
