FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF SCOREBOARD

I'm definately eating crow.... I thought Twin Cedars would have no chance against Iowa Valley due to there weak district and schedule... They beat Iowa Valley last night 24-22 on what I was told was a last second hook and lateral play? Was anyone there that could verify? Either way a win is a win. Congrats to Twin Cedars from a Murray Fan. I wish you best of luck in your next game against Midland!

From what I heard (was at the Midland game so not 100% sure) Iowa Valley's running back #1 didn't play, can anyone confirm that?

Was at the Twin Cedars Iowa Valley game. He played on Offense only. Plus a few kick returns. He busted a couple 20 yard runs after breaking a few tackles. Other than that he was mostly held in check.

Yes Iowa Valley took the lead with 29 seconds to go up by six. Twin Cedars then ran the kick off back to about mid field I would say. They then scored on a slant with a pitch on their first play with about 11 seconds left on the clock. It was probably the most exciting game that I have ever been in attendance.

Also an interesting note the score was 2-0 Twin Cedars late into the third quarter. Not something you see in 8 man football very often!

Wow sounds like it was a great game! Anyone think Twin Cedars will be able to hang with Midland? I really hope there able to pull it off! Would be huge I'm sure for them kids!

In a word, no.

Not to be snarky, but I don't think TC will be able to keep Midland off of the scoreboard. Midland isn't too sneaky, they pretty much tell you whether it's a run or a pass by the personnel they have on the field. They don't try to trick you, they just flat-out execute. Linebackers will be pivotal on defense. They must be prepared to fill in quickly on the run, but still be able to cover receivers all over the field. The QB does an excellent job of moving in the pocket and allowing his disciplined receivers time to work themselves open. The problem is that you can't sell out to stop the pass or they just go Wildcat and #4 will drink your milkshake ('There Will Be Blood' reference.)

TC's best bet will be to control the ball on offense and limit Midland to as few possessions as possible. They can make big plays, but the misconception is that they are a quick-strike offense. Against my Lions they had 35 more offensive snaps than us. Our defense was on the field the most of the game. Keeping it out of their hands is the best defense you can employ.

Good luck, but I'll be rooting for our D4 brethren.
