First of all, hats of to Dike-NH.

While they play very, very dirty football, they were the better team on the field.
Advice to the Wolverines: stick to what you do well (which is a lot) and get rid of the showboating and tackling after the whistles.

You are too good for that.

I wish all the teams remaining the best.

Sorry to the other 7 teams, but Regina is not going to lose.
If they are healthy, they will destroy all competition.

There is not a team left that can stay within 2TD of the Regals.

I see a West Lyon-Regina final.

Best wishes.

Blame you're better than that.

I had no dog in the fight, but it looked to be a reasonably clean game. Yes, DNH had 2 late hit calls. One on a punt which was a good call. And the other, the WB player's knee was down, but he was trying to fight for yardage and no whistle was blown. I was on south end of the field and had pretty good look (and sound) at both those plays. Couldn't really fault the DNH player for continuing that play in the 2nd instance.

The taunt on DNH RB (waved bye -bye to WB defenders) as he scampered down the sideline on his would-be 5th (?) TD of the night with 4 minutes left. Stupid but not really dirty.

Just smells of sour grapes when you start off like that. DNH seems to be peaking at the right time and just wasn't meant to be for WB this year.

The face mask penalty on the punt was unfortunate, but the right call, no argument here. The D-NH player reached back to try to grab the returner and caught the face mask. I've seen similar plays at least 5 times this year in multiple games.

The late hit was overaggressive and flagged for helmet to helmet. Again, no argument with the call.

Where I have concerns were the reactions of the fans from West Branch. After the face mask penalty on D-NH, a fan turned to the coaches in the box and yelled..."Tell me the number of that player, his a$$ is mine!" Add that to the fan who was booted for screaming at the referees...

All of that aside, being my first trip to West Branch, that is the most amazing place for a game.I loved the atmosphere and the West Branch team entrance is amazing. You guys have an amazing facility and atmosphere.

The match-up I'd like to see (especially with Kyle Vanden Bosch's HOF induction).

WL might prefer that it's played on a muddy pasture during a blizzard instead of indoors though.

Again, DNH was definitely the much better team last night.

Watched film back this morning - after the dust settled and emotions were gone - and saw a lot of things go unnoticed (by officials).

Not a fan of pile jumping, taunting, or twisting ankles in piles.

But, it's part of the game in 2014.

I wish the Wildcats the best going forward.
They are good team.

Stop Hageman, you beat South Winn. He's their meal ticket.

thanks for the compliments.

come back again.

I recall that fan saying that.
She was dealt with.

That's freaking ridiculous and I definitely do not condone such behavior.
The fan that was booted for yelling at officials was definitely a merited decision. I am glad our administrators put the game and experience ahead of an idiotic fan who didn't how to handle losing.

We were beaten by a better team. Officials had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I was impressed with the administration's handling of the incidents. I also don't judge an entire fan base on one or two people. I know we received a lot of congratulations and "Good Luck's" from West Branch fans.

A very classy group other than a few idiots.

Can't wait to make another trip down there.

Blame, the bears had a great season, they played tough all year.Every WB and Regina fan was hoping for a showdown. In 2012 WB played us smarter than any team in that first game. We were traiing at the half. That regal team had smoked Solon prior to that. P. S what would the gate total have been in a playoff game between these 2 ? The boys from Boone would be happy.

Pretty sure you insinuated DNH is a dirty team... Outside of maybe the AP game or when the played LPC(Everyone dislikes them) they don't have that reputation...

If an inadvertent facemask, one late hit, and guys who push the pile backwards is dirty then everyone was dirty at some point this season.

Never have I watched film and seen ankle twists vividly and I don't recall anyone being carted off the field unless it happened while I took a bathroom break...

Don't run your mouth unless you can't take the heat back.

WB had a good season... They were beat by a better team... Move on.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If any of the remaining teams were to play IC Regina even decent I think DNH is about the only option.

FDSE, WL ,and SW are way to vulnerable in passing game. IKM-M, WL, FDSE, and SW are also way to one dimensional on offense.

I don't think anyone will challenge ICR though.

as stated, WB lost to the better team.....and I have said it MANY MANY times in this thread.

So, in essence, I have moved on.

oh, I gotcha. Sorry for misinterpreting you.

Indeed, we've always been that 'physical brand of team'.

Got out physicaled last night.

D-NH isn't the best option to challenge Regina simply because they can pass well or are "balanced"....

If they're not good enough to beat South Winn with their "balanced" attack, which you say they aren't, then even if you start trying to over-think it in terms of matchups, they're not gonna be good enough for Regina...................................so basically what you said at the end.

And sure those other teams may be vulnerable against Regina's (passing) offense............but then Regina is not a 1A-level offense now are they. (that wasn't a question)

And I'm saying that because of who you're talking about comparing those other teams to. It, obviously, would be different if this comparison were about anyone else....just sayin.

I'm not sure where everyone is getting this idea that Dike-New Hartford has a balanced offense.
3200 yds rushing and 41 TD's and just under 1000 yds passing and 10 TD's.
That isn't a balanced or diversified offense.

South Winn's offense comes in with 3000 yds rushing and 44 TD's with 1350 yds passing and 17 TD's. They are far more balanced with numerous playmakers.

What this game will come down to is defense and South Winn's run defense will make Dike become pass oriented again, and although SW's pass defense is shaky, they were able to survive the potent North Cedar passing attack giving up yards but only 14 pts and Dike's pass game is nowhere near the caliber of North Cedar's.

South Winn beat them by 9 a month ago, but I don't see this rematch being close. Everyone is hopping on Dike's bandwagon because they beat West Branch. You know what? maybe West Branch wasn't as good as advertised. If any of the remaining teams can give Regina a game, it's got to be South Winn. Go Warriors!!!!

Would definitely have to agree with viking1184 [/B]on this one. The South Winn offense is more balanced than D-NH's. Too many weapons for this Warrior offense and a defense that just keeps on improving as their season continues. I just do not see D-NH's offense becoming an Air Raid Attack like North Cedar's was on Monday night. I don't think that D-NH will be able to make the the SW offense one-dimensional. Though SW only threw the ball three times on Monday, it was not because they are one-dimensional, it was because North Cedar didn't have an answer for the run game. Why pass when you can play power football. Sounds like D-NH played a great game down at West Branch on Monday, as Trent Johnson had 33 carries for 355 yards, but I do not see that happening against the Warrior run defense. Not sure who thought that D-NH almost pulled the upset in Week 7, but it wasn't as close as the score showed. If I remember correctly, D-NH scored with around a minute left in the game. Neither team turned the ball over in the first meeting, well-played on both sides, clean, physical football game that South Winn controlled from D-NH's first score on.

Keys to the Game
South Winn: Hageman, Rommes, and stopping Trent Johnson

Dike-New Hartford: Balance between Johnson's rushing and the Wolverine pass game, also preventing BIG plays

Prediction: South Winn 38 Dike-New Hartford 13

Warriors make it to the Dome for the first time since 2009.

14-13 with a minute or two left in the first half. SW got a quick score on a short field(47 yard drive) after a big KR. Going up 21-13 at half...

No scores in the 3rd...

DNH drive stalled at SW 17 yard line... SW scored to make it 28-13... DNH came back to score making it 28-19... SW got the onside kick and ran the clock out...

Seems to me like your definition of "close" and "controlled the game" may be a little skewed. DNH was within a score most of the game. They did get lucky on one longer pass which hit off a defender before getting caught but I would say DNH looked like the better team in the second half. If they play like they did in the second half they could come out with the win. I still have SW picked though.

It all comes down to one thing. DNH whipped WB. Game. Set. Match. Looking forward to the SW vs DNH game. Whoever wins has a huge gain in momentum going into the SEMIS.

I am going to say South Winn beats Dike by at least 2 TDs. Little Trent Johnson has been running the ball great, but I think SW will shut him down and be more ready for the passing game this time around. SW by 2 TDs

If you force DNH to pass, you will win the battle.

From BlameIt's earlier post:

Not a fan of pile jumping, taunting, or twisting ankles in piles.

Some things tonight did NOT go unnoticed by the officials tonight. D-NH was chipping the entire game, going after players that weren't even close to the play, late hits, jawing more than any team I've seen all year.

Probably the worst one of the night was late in the game.. a defensive lineman for the Warriors was down after the play. He said something to one of our captains, captain talked to the official, and on the very next play another one of the players was down after SW returned the interception for a touchdown. There was a flag on the play, it was a personal foul and a player for D-NH was ejected from the game. I talked to both players after the game, both players were punched in the stomach by the player who was ejected. Hate to see kids act like this on the field, too bad there weren't more Marcus Mariota's in the world. More kids should watch him play, he's a class act.

My prediction was 38-13 South Winn
Final score 34-7 South Winn, not too far off.

Russell Wilson and Marcus Mariota are my two favorite players in football. Perfect examples for football. Tim Tebow was as well if he could have put it together on the field in the NFL.
