Here are my final rankings for 2014:

1. Iowa City Regina (unfortunately)
2. West Lyon
3. South Winn
4. FDSE
5. Dike
6. West Branch
7. South Central Calhoun
8. Saint Ansgar
9. North Cedar
10. Ogden

No way South Winn is ahead of FD St. Edmond.

All we have to put this together is comparing scores but FDSE and West Lyon was a good game and the only 1A team to even play Regina close was West Lyon. Regina took South Winn apart.

Think you have need to have IKM-Manning up at least #4-#6.

Dike and West Branch at #5 and #6 probably too high. Dike soundly beats West Branch. South Winn beats Dike twice by 11 and 28 and then Regina has running clock on South Winn.

No one gave the west side of the state much respect all year, but not sure that the east side after Regina was any better. I think that showed in the playoffs. Some of those eastern teams did not play anyone all season until the playoffs.

Regina played much better against SW in my opinion. SW strength is their run defense, which is all WL and FDSE did. Not saying SW would beat WL, but I think it would be close. May I remind you last year FDSE got beat way worse in the finals last year in the finals than a lot of the east teams did. And yes I would agree IKM should be in there, forgot about them.

South Winn would not have come close to stopping the West Lyon running game. FDSE is so 1 dimensional I'm not sure who wins between South Winn and FDSE. West Lyon always has 4 or 5 backs that can hurt you, so much harder to prepare for than the FDSE offense.

I like the rankings outside of the fact IKM-Manning should be #5 and bumping everyone else below them down a spot. Ogden was not a Top 10 team.

What was know is WL and SW only loss in 1A came to the #1 team and WL played them better. FDSE only loss was to the #2 team, but they never played the #1 or #3 team. Thus, SW having lost to a much better team should be more deserving, but it is all for none because 1 team wins the Title. So... Who cares?

SE would have pounded SW. I saw SW play Regina and was not impressed. SE played several teams like SW and pounded them. Like it is true SE runs the ball 90% + of the time, what stopped them was the size of WLI. They were big and they were fast. I don't believe SW had the speed WLI had. SE would have beat SW by 21 or more.

As far as IKM-M, was not impressed with them at all. I also believe Ogden is ranked to high. At one point during the season they where a top 7 team. However, by the end of the year, injures had really taken its toll on them.

Give me a break SE could not do that to SW... Lets take a look at last year when they were absolutely obliterated by Regina losing to them by 5 TDs, even when Regina had many miscues (Many East teams played them closer even without Regina messing up). SW did not match up well with Regina at all because they tried to beat them at their own game and couldn't figure out how to cover the deep ball. Tell me who in the hell who throw the deep ball for SE? Because that is the only way they would beat them.

I would pick SE over SW in a heartbeat. SE had an amazing defense. They played WL better on defense than Regina did.

Offensively is where they would struggle.

Top 4

Regina
West Lyon
FDSE
South Winn
