FDSE is way too low, IMO. They've got some guys to replace, but they still bring back quite a bit from last year's team; I wouldn't have them any lower than 6th on this list. And I don't see any way that West Marshall finishes ahead of FDSE; without a Ferch in the backfield, what are they going to do this year? I also think Panorama is a little too high; they'll be solid, but I think both West Branch and FDSE should be better.

Well here's Luke's preseason rankings from last year. I think he's just being consistent, is all.

The Gazette doesnt get it.

No way is Clayton Ridge #4 in the state without the skill position guys it graduated. I don't care how good Moser is. Look at Woodbury Central (MoVille). It has 2 Iowa recruits at OL and cant even make the playoffs.

No way is Wilton #6 when it graduated every bit of their offensive production of note. And, it lost a transfer all-state OL/DL (who without question is the best lineman they had regardless if he is at WB or not). And its would be starting RB Logan Mays is not even out for football.

No way is Van Meter #8 without Brandon Brittain. He made them top 10 almost single handedly.

But, oh well.

I do agree that WB may be anywhere from 5 to NR and its correct. Too many question marks waiting for an answer.

Blame,

Luke has CR at #4. The Gazette does not have them ranked.

I'm a CR fan and I agree with you and the Gazette. They will be good up front, but the skill positions are way down. I still think they will make the playoffs, but will be a 3/4 seed out of their district.

yes, that's my bad.

Got all hyped up on Gazette/DMReg/QCTimes rankings.

I like the Eagles. I like Moser. But losing Helle, Roehlk, and Preston are big enough to set a lot of teams back.

I'm still questioning why people have Dike-NH ranked so high. They graduated most of their team last year and return very little. I don't see how South Winn isn't the clear favorite in that district with the people that they return.

i predict/ranked South Winn at #4 preseason, but honestly think they may be the 2nd best team in 1A by October.

They return a boat full of skill position players.

I would like to know if they return many OL?

3 of the 5 starting OL return for South Winn (Kipp, Kuennen, and Imoehl), along with two others that started on the DL (Koubeshek and Emanuel).

I believe they will beat Waukon by at least three scores and would be my #2 team in the state.

I would take West Marshall our and put in Manson. St. Eds moves up a little bit and Clayton Ridge down a bit.

South Winn is in the same boat along with other teams across the state: Replacing Lineman. I think they have 2 or 3 guys coming back, but will definitely need someone to step up. If SW can get some solid guys up front, they could be very dangerous. The bring back QB Logan Schweinefus, RB Ryan Hageman, RB Christian Kleve, TE Carson Lensing and of course stud WR Jordan Rommes. Also are bringing back almost everyone on defense. This team is without a question the number 2 team in 1A. They will sweep D4 with ease and give Iowa City Regina one heck of a game. Possibly end the streak?
