The stadium was buzzing with Coach Ferentz on the sidelines watching the inner city battle between LC and TJ. Last year TJ shocked Council Bluffs and Western Iowa with a 42-33 upset so it was a revenge match for LC.

Max Duggan looked great with his feet, rushing for 153 yards on 6 carries and passing for another 2 TD's & 100 yards.

Cameron Baker Iowa leading rusher who entered the game with 1,453 yards and an average of 10.8 per carry was totally shut down. Coach Duggan commented "Jones, Theobald and Dayo played a strong defensive game" the TJ offense is very difficult to contain. Baker finished the night with 89 yards on 22 caries for 3.4 per carry ( according to the Nonpareil) certainly not the night he's used to.

Obviously LC had this game circled on the calendar after last year's game and really wanted to make a point. I thought TJ tried hard and Baker ran hard however he never was a threat in the game, that said, the LC Defense is darn good.
Final Score LC 42 TJ 0

Sorry about the title heading, for whatever reason you can't correct typo's in the thread title, only the body of your post

I went to watch Baker play against SC West, it being a local game and wanting to watch Baker live. He ran for over 300 and could not be tackled by one player. I made a comment to my buddy that not one team would shut the kid down. Power and Speed

Reading your post it says he had 89 yards against CBLC, is that correct? Hard for me to believe after watching him earlier and looking at the numbers he's put up all year.

I went back and looked at the local paper and they show Baker 22 carries for 89 yards so I assume it's correct.
I've seen LC play twice ( Ankeny and TJ) they have a solid defense against the run and some "players" on the d-line, I don't recall many plays were Baker or other runners broke tackles for yards after contact.

I was there too. Baker looked out of sorts. I do not have kids @ LC but can tell you that I would not like to face them (Lewis Central) in the opening round of the playoffs. The "D" is the real deal,-Theobald, Jones, Deyo to name a few... Offensively the Duggan kid is healthy. His main target is actually a better basketball player than football player ( Simmons) but he has really come alive. Those guys on the D-Line for LC are a nasty bunch from a blue-collar town. Des Moines may or may not be up for that.

So I went to the TJ game tonight against Hoover and I left shaking my head confused. The QB from Hoover threw the ball all over the place, TJ could not stop him, whoever got the ball last was going to win the game. I think both teams forgot to work on defense this week.
Baker carried the ball a lot, I heard he went over 300 yards ( don't know his official numbers). To be honest I don't know how to grade Baker as a back, he's put up big numbers but when he's faced quality teams like Urbandale and especially Lewis Central (89 yards) he's been average. I mentioned I was at the game last week and he was not a factor in that game.
So to your point, the LC defense must be good or the other teams Bakers putting those yards up against are very very average. I tend to think the LC Defense is good because Baker did the same thing last year ( big numbers). I will say this, the game was fun and exciting if you like offense, if you're a defensive guy this game was not for you.

I'm not one to say that I called my shot, but Des Moines Valley got a taste of that Blue-collar Council Bluffs defense I was talking about from Lewis Central tonight. Congrats to Valley on a great season, good luck to Lewis Central going forward. Jones and Deyo had big nights from what I heard, Theobald threw his shoulder out and snapped it back into place and went back in during overtime.

Wow sounds like a great game to watch, I've seen those guys you mention play in the past and like your "Blue-Collar mentality, it's fitting. Maybe you can send some of them up to SC and give us a crash course before next season starts. We ( including myself) got a big slice of 'Humble Pie" from Harlan Friday Night. #stillstinging
