Here is an early look at the playoff picture in 1A.

Remember that the district champion and runner up from each district qualify for the playoffs along with two "wild card" teams.

Wild card criteria
1.) 3 or 4 way tie for district title
2.) District Record
3.) Head to Head Competition
4.) Point Diff +/- 17
5.) ABC order starting with D


All ties were broken using BCMoore predictions.

- week 9 game against South Winn will determine runner up.

- week 9 game against Maquoketa Valley will determine runner up.
- Clayton Ridge has a shot with a couple upsets.

1.) Regina
2.) Wilton
- Interesting district. 3 teams at 3-1 and all three will play in the next three weeks. Wilton is the favorite according to BCMoore.

1.) Pella Christian
2.) Pleasantville
- Pella Christian/Pleasantville game will be huge this week.
- Can Woodward Granger sneak in?

Can a wildcard team (south Winn) play a 2 seed runner up (Belmond)....? I think a wild card will play a district champion.

There will be at least one #2 seed host in round one. Only 7 districts.

Yes I know that but will they let a 2 host a wild card? I know In class A last year they matched up just a 2 with another 2 not a wildcard

May not have a choice.
It is quite possible you could see both wildcards come from the East side (Wilton, Sigourney-Keota, Maq Valley, Bellevue, South Winn are all in the thick of it). That would really throw a wrench into the matchups and the geography

I believe that the two main guidelines are that a 1 can’t play a 1 and a 1 can’t play the 2 from their district.
