Bettendorf must have played out of their mind on defense vs Dowling in the semifinal. I am curious to see the Dowling's offensive adjustments made this week.

Both O-lines have a huge advantage in size over the D-Lines. CF's D-line is probably equal to Dowling's D-line, but it will be difficult to keep blockers off Jack Campbell all game. Not sure why SE Polk got away from the run game. Murray is going to get yards. Tate Johnson will have a big game.

The Dome conditions and the passing game with Loecher and Wolf (and Freicks, Gilbert, Anhalt, and Sernett) favor CF. Sam Gary is rounding into form closer to his 2017 season at the right time. CF has the advantage in special teams.

But Dowling has 5 in a row for a reason.

I think CF'S defense is a few players better than Bettendorf. I see Logan Wolf/ Campbell playing both ways on and off.

CFs offense maybe more rounded than Bettendorfs as well, as balanced as they have shown so far.

Im hoping the Dowling bus wont show up at the Dome.

Having seen both Dowling and CF play personally vs a common opponent, CF is the better overall team. Schematically, CF defense does things similar to what Bettendorf did (line stunts, edge pressure) minus having two twitchy athletic DEs that caused Dowling tackles major issues. As long as CF interior DL does not get manhandled. The major difference is that CF has an eraser in the middle in Jack Campbell. If CF defensive line can keep him clean for a bit, he will make every tackle on Murray even in space. His length and ability to get off blocks is a major problem. Offensively, the Dowling QB doesn't have the ability to beat you on his own. Logan Wolfe will have to move into the slot to have any effectiveness vs Dowling. Dowling will play Cover 2 all day long to keep him bracketed if he plays outside. No vertical balls just like they did vs Porter from Bettendorf. The Tillman kid and TE from Bettendorf made all the plays from the slot. Does CF have 2nd WR or TE? Should be another good game!

Loecher throws a much better ball than Bell. Carter Bell is an amazing athlete. Cael Loecher is an outstanding quarterback. Frericks is 6’7” at TE and they have a number of WRs that can pick up the slack. They’ll get the ball to Wolf no matter where he lines up. The interior d-line has played very well all season keeping Jack clean, as well as being pretty disruptive themselves. CF puts speed out there versus size

I'll disagree 100% with that statement about Bell as a thrower if you saw some of the throws he made vs Dowling and ICW, but I will say the CF offensive coordinator does throw concepts conducive to the coverage they are seeing and easy to read for a QB. Not so much with Bettendorf passing game. I assume CF will be very prepared for Dowling's Cover 2 scheme. The Frericks kid can be a huge weapon to attack the middle of the field for sure. Dowling is smart enough to try and take Wolf out of the game at least not give him the big play down the field 1 on 1. Should be a good chess match. The key will be if CF can run the ball against Dowling's 7 man box. If they can effectively, it may get Dowling to add another guy to the box and get Wolf 1 on 1 vs Dowling's short corners.

If Dowling loads the box with 7 or 8 guys, there WILL be single coverage downfield, which Loecher will almost certainly exploit. It’s no coincidence that as more teams have tried to double team Wolf and play deep coverage, it’s opened up the defense underneath for Sam Gary. His biggest games have all come in the playoffs (partly due to injury earlier in the year, causing him to miss a few games). I’ve been following CF football for a long time. And I think this is arguably the most versatile, multi-dimensional offense they’ve ever had. Pick your poison.

Agree, should be a fun one. It should be Bettendorf and CF because those are the two best teams in the state over all talent-wise and the matchups would be fun to watch again. Good luck to CF

Haven’t gotten to see a lot of Cedar Falls, what I did see looked a lot like Dowling’s team last year. Campbell looks like the best athlete on the field. Who can make the other 1 dimensional and control the line? Think it will be tough, hard fought game. Go with the champs until someone knocks them off. 21-17 Dowling.

Bettendorf and CF the best teams in the state? I thought Bettendorf lost to Dowling. Maybe the best team should be selected by vote instead of head-head contests. Save a lot of time and money.

Now that I DON’T buy! Yes, the officiating was atrocious, and particularly in favor of Dowling. Were they incompetent? Perhaps. But to suggest HS refs have any real stake in an outcome like Vegas does on major college and NFL games is a bit preposterous.

Never said the refs had any "stake" (or even cared) which team won. But when there are not one but several pivotal mistakes which end up favoring one team over the other, the beneficiary (winner) has in fact been selected.

CF is undefeated and Dowling had a close game against Bettendorf. I hear the line in Vegas is Cedar Falls by 7 with the over/under at 45. I will Take Dowling plus 7 and the under.

My wife told me There is a shortage of Referees in the State of Iowa and I should become one.

I told her my job had enough stress without fans and coaches yelling at me.

Explain that to 17-18 year old boys who know that the referees incompetence greatly affected the ultimate outcome of the Bett-Dowling game. Easy for 40 to 50 year old men to say "overcome it, good teams do and the better team wins", but it's hard enough to beat a multiple time state champ without 4 obvious major errors affecting the game. Especially when one of them is 100% that he scored (saw the ball cross the goal line on the last play with his own eyes because he was holding it) and the referee isn't in position to see it.

In a playoff game, I think when you have a scoring play in question that is obivious to coaches, media and fans. That can directly affect the outcome of the game.

The refs or somebody up in a booth needs to look at the a replay and be enforced with upholding or reversing the call.

The Dowling TD Reception was a drop, I did not see the replay of Bell on 4th and inches.

The only reason why I even bring this up is because of the RPI system. I mean if you are going to install a college like strength of schedule to determine who gets in the playoffs.

Then by all means, lets go all out to be like college football then

Well, if you're under 70, not morbidly obese, more mobile than a crippled turtle and have at least a modicum of competency...they could have used you last Friday.;)

Actually I am as healthy as athletic 30yr old.
However any call you make is going to make someone upset

Maybe Bettendorf should play Alabama. According to about 1/2 the posters in here Bettendorf is the greatest losing team in the history of football.
