Districts Heading into the Final Week

Building off of KidSilverHair's post in the 3A forum, I thought I would take a look at how things shake out for the district championships.

District 1 – both CLGLR and West Lyon are both undefeated in the district and the winner this week will be the champ.

District 2 – Spirit Lake is undefeated in the district and has beaten 2nd place Estherville, so they should have this wrapped up.

District 3 – West Marshall, Iowa Falls and Forest City seem to be undefeated in district play. If Forest City loses, the winner of West Marshall and Iowa Falls will be the champ. If not, the State will have to resolve the quandary.

District 4 – This district has some missed games so, it is a bit complicated. Waukon and Independence are both undefeated in the district with one out of district loss. Waukon has one more district victory. If one wins and the other loses, the winner is the champ. If they both win, I’m not sure how the state decides the champ. If they both lose and Cresco Crestwood loses, same situation. But if they both lose and Cresco Crestwood wins, all three would have one lose. Cresco Crestwood would drop out due to loss to Waukon, and we are back to the same situation with not knowing how the State will decide a district champ.

District 5 – Comanche looks to have this wrapped up with last week’s victory over Monticello

District 6 – Solon would finish undefeated in the district with a win this week. If CPU wins and Mt. Vernon loses, CPU would win the district. A CPU and Mt. Vernon win, that would result in a 3-way tie at 4-1 in the district with each team having beating one of the others, which I think would give the district championship to Mt. Vernon assuming the State goes to overall record as a tiebreaker.

District 7 – Williamsburg has this one wrapped up.

District 8 – PCM should be the champ here as they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with Centerville.

District 9 – Looks like Atlantic has this one locked up.

So, it looks like District 1, 3, 4 and 6 are the districts up for grab as we head into the final week.

I apologize in advance if I messed any of this up, but it's hard to track with missed games.

Great analysis! I follow Nwest Iowa - here’s my 2-cents.
District 1: CLGLR and West Lyon play this Friday at West Lyon. Both are undefeated and play very tough, smash mouth football. This has the makings of a great game. West Lyon has beaten CLGLR the past couple of years but CLGLR is looking extremely good. One of these teams will be in the dome, I just don’t know which one.

District 2: Spirit Lake has 2 losses both to very good 1-A teams: oabcig and west Sioux. They should get through the first couple of playoff rounds but I’m not sure they have the horsepower to make it to the dome. Don’t sleep on ELC, they’ll be a tough out in the playoffs.
