I've been out of the loop lately on Iowa HS football, I still follow scores and such though. However, what is up with District 9? A two team district? How exactly does that work?

They have this district for those few teams that were either not competing at the varsity level when districts were released last year (Charter Oak - Ute) or ineligible for playoffs this year (Grandview Christian). They put them in a per say "District 9" to denote that they are just non-district games against teams that I don't believe can qualify for playoffs this year. Someone correct me if I am wrong there especially with Grandview Christian but I am pretty sure that is how it is.

You are correct, sir. Charter Oak-Ute reinstated their varsity team this fall. Grand View & Ankeny Christian combined and their joint enrollment is 120, over the 115 threshold for 8-man.
