Couple of big games this week:
WV vs South Winn (should be a very good game - second loss for either team would hurt)
North Tama vs East Buc (do or die for East Buc)
Grundy vs GMG
Hudson vs BCLUW

Hudson with big win over NT last week. Sounds like it was a hard fought, pretty evenly matched up game. Having a kicking game is a huge advantage in these close ones, not too many have it.

Was pretty surprised at how handily Grundy handled EB! Not sure what is going on over at EB (I see Naber must not be playing?), but the wheels have fallen off the last couple of weeks. Can they rebound against a very tough North Tama team?

Grundy and Hudson should both have a little bit of a break this week.

WV vs South Winn will be a battle. WV has a couple of tweaked players right now and a death of a 7th grader in the community may dampen the mood. It was supposed to be Homecoming but that has been postponed. Important game, so hope the young men are able to bring their A game.

Other Class A games of note:
Algona Garrigan vs Britt West Hancock (A game of the week)
Hinton vs Akron Westfield
Highland vs BGM
Pekin vs Eldon Cardinal

Wapsie vs SW is a non district game so a loss by either is not a killer. Wapsie still has Gundy, EB and Hudson to play so to win the district they have the teams in front to play and beat. Grundy has NT, Wapsie and Hudson left with newman as a non district. I think Hudson has the toughest season left as they have ST Ansger non district and finish with Grundy, Wapsie and EB. Right now I think Grundy is playing the best of any in this district and they match up with North Tama next week. Not sure on EB as like you I heard they have had some guys out with injuries and in a small school if your missing key guys it hurts, just ask Alburnett with them missing 3 of their horses vs Highland.

I'll definitely be rooting for EB, I just don't see how they will get it done based on their performance the last two weeks. In looking at how SW has done against their opponents, and how WV has done against similar caliber opponents, I give the nod to WV (although it will likely be within a couple of scores).

Terrible news from Fairbank, Zowwy. Hard to know what to expect from Wapsie football this week.
Those are kinds of questions you just really hope to never have to answer from a student body or football team. My condolences to all involved.

Appreciate it Sev. Carson was a great kid! My heart goes out to his family - can't even imagine the pain they must feel. Football definitely seems small and insignificant at times like this.

WV held SW to between 25 an -40 yards rushing, but their height at WR posed a problem for WV corners as they had over 300 yards passing. Both of their TDs came on big plays over the corners. SW did a decent job against WV run but got wore down in 4th quarter and the balance of WV was just a little too much. Great game though.

Was surprised at how close EB/NT was. Now this week NT has to take on GC which will be another great battle. Their schedule gets easier after that.

No surprise with Hudson or GC.
