Figured all 10 districts would get a thread going rather soon, so I'll start District 1 (in order)
#6 MMCRU - Loses 12 seniors from a team that didn't put up much of a fight at all last year minus an 8-0 win over North Union. Team might be pretty small next year but they return starting QB and RB in Prescott and Cluck.
#5 South O'Brien - Decently sized squad but don't return much from a team that went 2-7 last year. 1000 yard rusher Clay Leng graduates, as does QB Louscher. Will be interesting to see what they put together for next season, I'm pretty sure they had at least 32+ underclassmen on the roster last year
#4 Hinton - Decent 5-4 team that returns almost all their skill players to an average run and pass game. QB Vonk returns from a 3 TD 9 INT season, along with four 200 yard rushers. I'm not sure about the line they have returning, though they had a good season last year in 1A. Waiting to see how the Blackhawks fare in Class A.
#3 Gehlen Catholic - Really solid team that loses almost its entire team to graduation. The Jays lose a stud QB Wiltgen as well as a handful of talented backs. Everyone on the team from last year with more than 10 total yards of offense was a senior minus WR Nemmers. A lot of the rock solid defense leaves as well including 6'5 280 NDSU commit Nohava. Gehlen always seems to continue producing athletes, so don't count them out.
#2 Akron-Westfield - Lose great QB in Nemesio and stud WR in Anderson who linked up for 700+ yards last year, Nemesio was also the leading rusher. Nic Jacobs returns at RB and potentially QB as he saw some time there last year. The Westerners also return a solid crop of 220 pounders on the line though they graduate quite a few as well.
#1 HMS - Returns almost the whole squad from last year other than RBs Dodd and Wynja. Stud QB Wohlert takes the backfield again with a great athlete and pass-catching back in Schiphoff, who paired 600 all-purpose yards with 14 yards per play. The Hawks return 8 of their 10 top tacklers along with a great defensive back unit, including 1st team all-state CB Morphew. The backfield also returns FB Heetland (500 yds). Undersized line will be the main issue.
