After 2 games what is everyone seeing for district in each of the districts, here are mine.

D1
1. Heelan
2. Storm Lake
3. SBL
4. Spirit Lake
5. Spencer
6. Algona
7. LeMars
8. Humboldt

Top 3 could be in any order, but to me this is what I see, I think Heelan has the talent to beat everyone, Storm Lake may not be as talented but having Fred Wieck running the show (or his son) is a big advantage, and SBL kind of a balance of both of those. After that Spirit Lake is just a step behind, and Spencer after that, the last 3 could finish in
D2
1. DCG
2. Webster City
3. Boone
4. Ballard
5. Gilbert
6. Perry
7. Greene County
8. IFA

DCG has the most impressive win, Webster City is always solid, and Boone looks to be back with another strong team, after that I feel that it is Ballard just due to tradition and Gilbert for the same reason, the last 3 in any order but I would go in this order right now due to performances.
D3
1. Xavier
2. Waverly Shell Rock
3. Benton
4. Decorah
5. Charles City
6. South Tama
7. Independence
8. Vinton Shellsburg

I really think 3 of the top teams in the state are in this district and it wouldn't surprise me to see Xavier get tripped up once or twice in district play, hopefully the district gets 3 teams in the playoffs again, after that Decorah is the traditional power, who could have a say in the race for playoff spots, but I think they are a little behind the other 3, Charles City is kind of a unknown but I like more then the rest, South Tama beat a bad Grinnell team then got worked over by a good Williamsburg team, Independence looked like last year in their first two weeks, then woke up big time last week so it will be interesting to see what they do, and Vinton is in for a long year.

D4
1. Marion
2. West Delaware
3. Assumption
4. Wahlert
5. CPU
6. CCA
7. Central DeWitt
8. Maquoketa

Big time cluster at the top, any of those 4 teams could finish as the Champ, I think Marion proved the most by beating a good Union team, then losing close to a really good Benton team. West Delaware really beat up on a questionable Indee team, then lost to Mount Vernon who should contend in 2A, Assumption looked really good against North Scott, and then bad against a really good Bettendorf team, and Wahlert lost really close to two decent 4A teams, and that is why I could see anything happening. After that I think it is a complete toss up as well. I put CPU in 5th since they are 2-0 but beat 2 terrible teams, CCA has not looked good but I think they will figure out, and Central DeWitt and Maquoketa round out the district.

D5
1. Solon
2. Washington
3. Oskaloosa
4. Mount Pleasant
5. Fort Madison
6. Fairfield
7. Keokuk
8. West Burlington

Solon is really good, but looking at their roster I am a little concerned with depth, if they stay healthy they will be in title contention. Washington will go as far as their QB takes them, but are very talented as well. I think Osky is the next logical choice, lost to Pella and didn't look good, then beat a bad Grinnell team, Mount Pleasant looked good the two games they have played but I am not sold just yet. Fort Madison is the same story, it will be interesting to see if they found a coach who can actually turn them in to a contender, the last 3 are all down, I'll put Fairfield as the team who usually is the most consistent.

D6
1. Pella
2. Carlisle
3. Norwalk
4. Boundurant Farrar
5. North Polk
6. Knoxville
7. Nevada
8. Grinnell

Even though Pella lost on Friday, when you win 42 in a row before that I think they will be just fine, Carlisle has looked very good, but will have to battle Norwalk who is off to a bit of a slow start but I think will be fine. Same with Boundurant Farrar, although I am less sold on them. North Polk could challenge for 3rd or 4th but I don't see them finishing high then that, Knoxville is 2-0 which get them there, Nevada beat a decent 2A school so maybe they could surprise and Grinnell is bad.

D7
1. Glenwood
2. Harlan
3. Carroll
4. Creston
5. Winterset
6. Atlantic
7. ADM
8. Denison Schleswig

Pretty simple here, the top four are a cluster and the bottom four are a cluster, I think Glenwood and Harlan will eventually separate themselves for the two playoff spots though, depending on how the district beats itself they could get a 3rd but sometimes having a good 4th can hurt the 3rd from getting a wildcard.

IMO the East side is on a different level. I've watched Regina play Xavier/Solon in person, and I've watched quite a bit of Hudl clips that teams or players have posted this year and the speed/physicality of the East side is different than the West. After Week 1 I'd have said Xavier is the cream of the crop, but after watching Solon's defense I can't forsee anyone having success against them. The one defensive lineman is commited to Iowa, and their Linebackers are the real deal. Offense seemed to score however it wanted as well. If the Regina faithful are on here maybe they can comment to those two opponents as well.

Time will tell, and high school players/teams improve vastly from week to week, but for now that's my two cents worth. Going to either Xavier/Benton or Washington/Mt. Pleasant this week. Good luck to all!

I think PNation did a terrific job of evaluating the 3A districts. I'm watching District 4 pretty closely, and he has that one nailed. Assumption, West Delaware, Wahlert and Marion are all capable of beating anyone in that district on any given night, and it'll be exciting to watch this district play out. The best-coached team will win it. Overall, I think Xavier will be undefeated through the championship, with wins already over Regina and Linn-Mar. Solon and Pella would be my two runners-up.

I would put Carlisle first Norwalk second and Pella third. I listen to the Pella game on my computer. The Bf @ Pella was a close game until the final quarter Bf made some major make stakes in that game what kill Bf was the interception. Bf doesn't have a good running back. It's starting to get better with a new running back. My friend tell me this He think they (Bf) will be better next year then this year.

The thing about Xavier this year is they don't have "A" player, they are a team and are sound. I think the younger schulty (?) is a bigger threat on the field than his brother.
