On a regular basis the Siouxland Conference has sent a 1A, 2A and 3A school to the state tourney. Since they didn't send any schools this year.....is the Little Hawkeye that new conference that will start sending schools from multiple classes on a regular basis?

With so many teams in the conference at the State Tourney, I have heard a few suggest it is becoming the best basketball conference in the state. Add in Oskaloosa is has two likely D-I players and they were probably the 5th best team.

Ok...I don't agree with the guys arguing for it, but they were pretty good.

According to BCMoore, the LHC was the #2 conference in Iowa this year (104.15), and the Siouxland was #9 (87.96). If your measuring stick is number of teams in the state tournament, though, I'm not sure the LHC will be considered the best conference for long.

Based upon what I'm seeing, Pella, PC, and Newton will be down next year, but Osky and Norwalk will be up. Indianola won't be as bad in the future as they were this year. I think it will regularly have stronger teams than the Siouxland, though that won't necessarily translate to more teams in the state tournament.

The LHC is has bigger schools with a 3.12 average, though they have three different classes (one 2A, five 3A, & two 4A schools) represented. The Siouxland has 1.80 average and are hampered by being stuck in the NW corner, which means that can't be spread out as much in district/substate pairings.

Siouxland down this year compared to last 5-8 seasons. Will see if it's a blip or more next year.

The best basketball conference in the state is the MVC which has won by far the most 4A and 3A championships in recent history.
I wasn't sure if this thread was including 4A conferences but if so, EastIowaHawk is correct the MVC is the best

I apologize if I jumped in. Yes, the Little Hawkeye and Siouxland are great conferences. I like the Wamac Conference in the east, too, but they are losing Anamosa and Western Dubuque. Probably most really good 1A, 2A and 3A conferences are in central, southern or western Iowa.

I think the original post was about conferences that send 1A, 2A, and 3A teams on a regular basis. There's no doubt the MVC is the best with 3A and 4A, I just don't think that was really a part of the discussion to begin with.
