I wondered if anyone has any info about what's going on at Danville. No seniors and only three juniors on the entire roster? Four of their top 14 tacklers last season were juniors. None of them is out this year. I know the sophomore class is strong, but where are the upperclassmen?

New London 70, Danville 0 last night. Does anybody know how many guys Danville has on the team this year? Are they really low on numbers?

Also the schedule shows all jv games cancelled so I can only assume all players out are dressing varsity.

145 beds so doubt they can drop down anytime soon. Just need to get thru this year and try to keep everyone going out.

Games Monday & Friday is tough on players(the 3 JRs would probably be the only ones that wouldn't dress both) and not much time left for prep for the next V game.

The school website shows all of the jv games were cancelled.
The lack of players out is a concern. Only 5 freshman. Also according to the school website.
I could be missing something. Not at all familiar with the school.

Just got word from our school that Danville will be forfeiting their varsity football games for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Yes they did cancel Varsity for the year. They are trying to pick up some JV games. The team deserves to play some games, they have worked very hard in the off season and up to this point. Coaches and boys are determined to come out of this stronger next year. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Given the size of Danville, this is unfortunate. I have read that this is their coach's 1st year. Is this the reason for such low numbers? Do the kids just want to focus on basketball?

There are some kids that want to focus on basketball as seniors, there are some that had concussions in the past or were hurt and felt they wanted to focus on other things, and of course you have some that didn't like the change in leadership. The kids that are playing now are very focused to make this a go. Starts with lifting and working hard in the off season and this team is doing that. We will be fine!

I heard 98 kids opted for choir....that's about half the high school. Second....Danville has been trending toward a passive politically correct curriculum where competitive aggression is not taught or promoted. I saw this coming when Delacy took over the reigns of superintendent His philosophy is about sportsmanship and winning is a secondary after thought. And with Laffoon leaving.... the last bastion of competitive aggression just was the last nail in the coffin at Danville.

Laffoon will be around at least one more year. And I do agree with your sportsmanship comment about DeLacy.

Yeah Tigg, I've heard the same complaints about the super. The John Wooden pyramid of success can only take you so far. You just got to get down and dirty sometimes to win and with the super standing on the sidelines of a football game monitoring offensive language and "sportsmanship"..... it is time re evaluate what educators are trying to drill into student's head. I'm so tired of hearing about kids and their parents being drug into the super's office for what is perceived, unbeknownst to the student ....that they may have uttered a word that is considered bullying and end up writing an essay of apology to the school board, super and the poor little spoiled son or daughter of a teacher. My advice to Danville, shut the football program down and let the men get down and dirty at some one else's football program that doesn't look at Choir as the epitome of the John Wooden pyramid of success.

It is still refreshing to see all the various schools on the Friday night high light reels on the local news that have not been infected by PC police. Their student sections are still chanting, dressing up, holding up signs and trying to get into the other teams head as much as possible and the teams play like they are chewing a raw piece of meat. (that's probably bullying) You guys have nailed it. They are trying to turn Danville into some kind of utopian academia that doesn't include competiveness to succeed and the football program is suffering because of it. No wonder Lafoon locks horns with the superintendent ..Lafoon demands that missing ingredient that the Danville school system wants to purge from the curriculum.

The junior high went undefeated, hopefully that is a good sign for the future. Delacy needs to get off this sportsmanship kick and stop patrolling the sidelines for inappropriate player behavior.

The focus now seems to be Swing Choir.....100 kids.
