Last week of the regular season is upon us. Lets get to it, shall we?

East Marshall 20 @ Saydel 26 -- Interesting game. Both teams have struggled mightly this year. In the bcmoore rankings it pits the lowest rated 3A team vs. lowest rated 2A team. Saydel is beat up right now. Had some starters sitting last week against Pella. Don't know much about East Marshall. Saydel has one win this year, lets make it two!

Knoxville 21 @ Norwalk 28 -- Knoxville has really come on this year. Congrats to the Panthers for making the playoffs for the first time since 1990. The Saydel, Chariton, Osky games last three weeks have give K'ville lots of confidence. Norwalk stumbled a bit last week in loss to ADM. I'm guessing that Norwalk will right the ship this week and get some momentum heading into the playoffs. A few short weeks ago I wouldn't have thought this would be a closely contested game. I do now!

Oskaloosa 14 @ Carlisle 55-- Carlisle ran for about 450 yards last week against Chariton. Will probably be similar again this week. Osky has really struggled this year. Knoxville battered Osky last week. I think the Indians are ready to move onto winter sports.

Pella 56 @ Chariton 7 -- Similar story to Osky-Carlisle game. Pella will run all over the Chargers. Pella's line will dominate on both sides of the ball. The air has been let out of Chariton the last 3 weeks after such a great start this year. Chariton has some talented skill players, but the QB will be running for his life. Again, basketball is just around the corner for a talented Chariton BB team. Look for this game to be decided by halftime.

East Marshall 18 @ Saydel 19 Saydel will squeak one out and have a fun senior night.

Knoxville 14 @ Norwalk 35
Knoxville has been on a roll but Norwalk is too good.

Oskaloosa 14 @ Carlisle 42 The top 3 teams in this district can go very very far.

Pella 56 @ Chariton 21 Chariton hung with Carlisle for most of last week's game. Pella is amazing.

East Marshall @ Saydel: I really wish I could pick Saydel to win this one, but I just don't think it is in the cards. It has been told that Saydel is missing some starters to injury, and their "next man in" happens to be freshmen in too many cases. East Marshall gets their first win of the season, 28-14.

Knoxville @ Norwalk: Hard to know for sure, but I think Norwalk wins this game. Knoxville is much improved this year, but much of their recent momentum has been generated against losing teams. A win against Norwalk will help the bus keep rolling, but that will be a tough task. Norwalk is only .500, but still they present a physical challenge. The key might come down to "those things each team has NOT done well" to this point in the season. Will Knoxville be able to pass a little? Will Norwalk be able to run a little? I think Norwalk's bulk in the middle makes the difference, Norwalk 24-14.

Oskaloosa @ Carlisle: Carlisle will move the ball very efficiently against Osky, but Osky will not move the ball at all against Carlisle. Carlisle 48-12.

Pella @ Chariton: Chariton won some ballgames early in the season, playing the softest schedule this side of the Rio Grande. They have not been as effective as competition has improved. Chariton has some talent, but it will be a continuous clock early in this one. Look for the Chargers to catch fire late and rack up some impressive 4th quarter stats. Pella wins, 56-13.

How could you pick against Saydel? Shame on you! Actually, I'm just trying to will them to a victory.....

I also agree with your Norwalk -- Knoxville thoughts. If Knoxville can throw the ball effectively and efficiently, I kinda like them in this game. Norwalk is stout, but they just don't run the ball very well. Knoxville could get a couple of their blazers on the edge and they could run away from the Norwalk DB's. But, Norwalk may be able to throw the ball all over the field as well. Is a nice match-up. I will still pick Norwalk, but wouldn't be shocked if K'ville came out with a W.
