Just turning the corner and going down the home stretch now! The cold wind in my face at last Friday night's game reminded me of that fact. Thank goodness for hand and feet warmers. Here we go:
Carlisle 55 at Saydel 7 -- Name the score kind of game. Blowout city.
Chariton 21 at Knoxville 35-- I would consider this the district game of the week. Great matchup with major playoff implications. Knoxville is playing well. Chariton started the season strong against a week schedule, now are coming back down to earth. Norwalk's physical play gave Chariton fits. Knoxville, while not as physical as Norwalk, is also a very physical team. Playing at home, I think the Panthers will take the Chargers.
Oskaloosa 7 at Norwalk 42-- Will not be a close game. Norwalk will finish off the season on a roll after losing to Carlisle and Pella early in the season. Norwalk will dominate, much like against Chariton last week.
Pella 35 at Newton 7-- Another tough road game for the Dutch. Newton picked up a nice road win last week over Ballard. Last second game winning field goal is always an exciting way to win a game! Newton's QB, Wood, is such an athletic kid (as opponents in the Little Hawkeye Conference know from other sports). Again, Pella just has too many horses though. Newton's D surrended a ton of yards last week, but made the plays when it counted. Pella's offense has seemed to bog down the last couple of weeks, but is due and will break out this week. Pella's D will make it a tough night for Wood and the Newton O.
Playoff contenders:
1. Pella
2. Carlisle
3. Norwalk
4. Knoxville
Let's hope the weather is better this Friday night!!
