Always the hardest week to predict as it is mostly a shot in the dark.

Ballard 28 Carlisle 20: Carlisle is losing a lot. Ballard is bringing back lots of starters from a pretty decent team last year. Will go with the experience.

Bondurant-Farrar 21 Winterset 14: B-F is an up and coming program that could have a very nice year. Winterset, not so sure on them yet.

Knoxville 24 Chariton 14: Both of these teams lost a lot of talent. Chariton lost Hockenson, who was THE guy on that team. Don't see the Chargers having a very good year this year.

CMB 35 Nevada 28: CMB ran all over Nevada last year. Will see if Nevada has improved much.

North Polk 35 Perry 14: Perry was bad last year, not sure if they will be much improved this year. North Polk beat them handily last year.

Norwalk 42 Indianola 21: Could be the start of a special year for the Warriors. Is nice to see these next door neighbors playing. Hopefully this will be the start of a great rivalry, especially since they are both in the same conference now in other sports.

Pella 38 Oskaloosa 14: Well, the title defense starts here. 28 game win streak going, don't think it will stop here.

Grinnell 28 South Tama 27: South Tama had a great team and a great year last year. But, they graduated about all the key cogs. Grinnell has some good talent coming back. Will go with the home field advantage.

I could see DCG being pretty salty this year. Interesting if they did indeed take it to Norwalk last week in the scrimmage. That would have been a great scrimmage to see. Norwalk does have some young players that have to step up, fill in, and get some experience. What's your call between Norwalk and Indianola?

The B-F and Winterset game is the one this week that I really have no idea how it is going to play out. I at least have a shred of reason for my picks in the other games.

I think Norwalk will beat Indianola fairly easily. I don't really have that much to go on for BF/Winterset either as I know nothing about Winterset. Most of BF best skill talent and some size were seniors last year as I saw who contributed for them first hand last year. I do know the have large numbers participating and they have a very solid program though so who knows.

DCG did not "take it" to Norwalk in their controlled scrimmage! Unless you consider 7 TOTAL yards of offense taking it to someone. Scrimmage was 2 hand touch on the QBs, no live kicks, starters played a half, etc. Score was 7-0 Norwalk over DCG.
DCG was 1-8 in third down conversions. They had 21 total passing yards and -14 total rushing yards. Norwalk was 4-9 on 3rd down conversions and had 155 total yards with 124 passing and 31 rushing. Neither team ran much of their normal offenses.
