It'll always be Galva-Holstein to me. Ridge View...Inwould have rather had one of those alphabet soup names rather than this abomination. 'Course, if you're really old, Galva-Holstein is probably blasphemous to you but at least you can look it up on a map.

who the heck gave Hinton a vote for #1?
Hinton did not receive any #1 votes, but Underwood is #1 in BCMoore. It's a product of a unbiased early season computer ranking. I think BCMoore is a good ranking it just takes about 7 weeks to get quality results.

Underwood...really? What quality 3A or 2A schools have they beaten this season that puts them on top of Regina and their schedule? Seems like the computer program needs some adjusting...

I agree, but I do think this is the most accurate top 10 out there.

I would put the Bears @ #2, but would bet we don't get to see #1 vs #2 again this year.

I wouldn't. We are #8-10 at best right now.
That is not sandbagging, its being honest. Finnegan's injury is really a big loss to the team. His leadership and experience is what this team lacks.

I don't think there are 7-9 better teams in 1A. Luke has them in the top 25 of all classes. Dominant running back, great defense, line. Finnegan is a huge loss and I hope his recovery is going well. I don't see 8-10.

For me, it is hard to find 7 teams better than West Branch right now.

I would go...

1.) Regina - No doubt
2.) Hinton - Very athletic team. - Under the radar right now
3.) DNH - Great tradition - Great RB -
4.) West Branch - Great coaching - Great RB -
5.) Madrid - D1 talent - Weak district may hurt in the long run
6.) Western Christian - Athletic D2 team - Under the radar in maybe the best 1A district?
7.) Underwood - Great start - Very efficient passing game - Avoca game will be big (week 7)
8.) South Winn - Quality opponents -
9.) Van Meter/Panora/Avoca - All have been solid -
10.) West Lyon - Young - Western Christian and Hinton still coming up -

loosing Finnegan does hurt but new comers are making a big impact for the Bears & are an easy #2. still to bad we won't see that matchup this year.

Has anyone heard an update on the Dike-NH RB? Someone had posted that he was injured Friday night and it didn't look good. I certainly hope the kid is ok, injuries suck.

Not sure I would say an "easy" #2. They haven't blown away mediocre competition to this point. Not sure any team has claimed their position yet. One could argue that #2-10 are an even heat.

I would agree with that USF... but being a Bear fan I want them to get a shot @ #1 this year.

This looks pretty close...

Hey USFHawk, I get to see WL in person for the first time in years in a week or so. What can I expect to see? You say they are young, at what positions?

West Lyon will do what they have always done. Play power football. Yes, they are young. 6-7 sophomores will start at one position or another. This week's game will be big for all of D2. Hinton is talented and well coached. Should be a good one.

What game are you coming to see?

Here's how I see it going which is a shame too most:
Quarterfinal games:
#1 vs #3
#2 vs #7
#4 vs #5
#6 vs #8 (This is the game I have a problem with)

I know I'm biased to the eastern side of the state, but ICR, DNH, & WB are by far the top 3 teams in the state and only 2 of them will be in the Semi's. With that being said the top 2 teams will not be in the finals, they will have to play in the Semi Finals.

Beast, I agree 100% What a shame!

I think there are times that the West is under estimated. It may not have the overall strength of the east but they have some strong teams. Also there are times that teams in the east may be a little over rated.

Be specific which teams are you referring too?
