Crazy Idea I Have For Districts

I was looking at possible changes to teams playing 3A and honestly I don't see a lot as long as BEDS stay consistent from last year, Iowa City Liberty will be interesting if they are a 3A or 4A. But putting the teams on the map there are some isolated teams.

So I thought why not go with 11 5 team districts. Teams would have a schedule where they have to play 4 district games, 3 other 3A schools outside their district and 2 games of whoever they choose. It might be a little difficult to schedule but I think this would help with travel.

You would have 11 district champions and 5 at large teams that you could base off of all 3A games played.

I actually like it, if "2 games of whoever they choose" can include out-of-state competition.

Never thought about that but why not.

I would agree that it is a crazy idea.....the IHSAA went to seven districts of eight teams in 3A-2A-1A because the coach’s association lobbied against crossover games during the last seven weeks under the previous alignment. 9 districts of six would make more sense.
