Core 3 Scout Class of 2019 Rankings

Not going to lie... These 2019 ones look a little rough if you ask me.

Top 4 I won't argue.

Samake is going to be better than #13 and I've only seen his highlights. That is D1 talent easy.

Dylan Jones from Waukee wouldn't surprise me if he was better than all post guys except McCaffery, Carter, Hutch, and Samake.

Logan Wolf at the 18th best guard in the state... He was contently living AJ Green's shadow. If you watched the state tournament he is Top 10.

Since I follow the MAC and coached kids from the MAC. I am a curious on the placement of Tavi Seales, Pegues, Wommack, and lack of TJ Vesey...

Just for analysis...
#XXX Vesey 10.4 PPG 43% FG 33% 3pt 64% FT 54 AST 37 STL 3 BLK 34 TO
#134 Wommack 11.1 PPG 49% FG 0% 3PT 52% FT 21 AST 49 STL 13 BLK 33 TO
#059 Seales 9.0 PPG 42% FG 39% 3PT 70% FT 60 AST 16 STL 1 BLK 29 TO
#146 Pegues 11.5 PPG 38% FG 21% 3PT 72% FT 23 AST 20 STL 30 BLK 47 TO

I've seen all of these guys play. Tavi is a very savvy court aware guard, but he isn't really better than any of these other 3. He's a better 3 PT shooter and more of a PG than the others. I just can't see how you can rank Tavi so high and barely have Wommack or Pegues on the list. Yet, completely have TJ Vesey off the list who was playing as the 6th option on his team but still averaged double figures off the bench for half the season. Statistically, I would want Vesey because of the balance. I still don't like the FT percentage, but I didn't even when I coached him as a freshman.

Lastly, Donte Eldridge from ICW will surprise some people even with Braun and Pepin transferring in.

I appreciate the feedback. I have adjusted the rankings with TJ in there. I was thinking he was the class of 2020 for some reason. I also switched the two Dav. Central kids as I mixed them up. As for Samake, yes super athletic and has talent but right now what does he do consistently besides dunk and block shots? He does not have much for back to the basket moves or facing the hoop. I think a good summer and he will definitely be improved and most likely will move up the rankings. Will be interesting to see if he stays at Grandview Christian. Jones from Waukee is also talented and after watching him at state I was hoping for more. Maybe it was how Waukee used him in their offense but I was hoping for a little more. Kid plays very hard and like Samake with a good summer and he will move up most likely. As for Wolf he is a talented kid and played well at state. However I am interested to see how he performs when he runs the show and is out of Green's shadow. Defenses will guard him differently. My rankings are based off of yes potential and what could they do at the next level but also what they actually did. They won't necessarily be correct in some eyes but I do appreciate the feedback and help. I will admit I do not know as much about the east side as the west side. Thanks!

Noah Hart #14...Dante Eldridge #73! Go back and watch that semifinal game...Hart struggled mightily with Eldridges ball pressure. Eldridge ripped him quite a few times that night. I know it is only one game but from what I saw there, Eldridge is the better player.

I haven't seen Samake play in person, so my analysis is simply based on skills seen in highlights. I understand how your rankings fall right now. I think given the upcoming season those guys have the most potential to improve.

Noah Hart assist and rebounding totals are much higher than Eldridge, so that may be part of it. Shooting wise Eldridge has the edge, but he is in a similar scenario to Wolf at CF. He was playing as the 3rd sometimes 4th option on the team.

Hart had 11 points and 6 assist shooting 50% in the semi's. Eldridge had 5 points 4 assists 4 steals shooting 25%. So, Eldridge did swipe some, but otherwise was outplayed. I didn't get rebounding numbers, but my guess is Hart had more.
