Holy moly ... this is literally the first time I can think of (under the current system) where the IHSAA forced the pairings into more of a seeding-based style, rather than matchups that make sense for travel.

The west side went pretty much as I thought, except for putting Webster City with Pella. But Decorah driving right past Manchester, so they can go all the way to Solon? Giving Assumption a home game vs Washington, just to keep Xavier & Solon in different brackets? This is weird. It's pretty cool for competition's sake - we are now looking at a potential Xavier-Solon semifinal in the Dome - but it makes little sense travel-wise.

I can't figure out these guys.
