I know there are a lot of good players across the state but I noticed at least one "interesting" non-selection from previous posts. District 2 Defensive MVP is 1st Team INA All-State. Well done and I'm sure well deserved! District 8 Defensive MVP...NOT SELECTED ON ANY TEAM...AND a LB from DM Christian is selected over 3 LBs from the same district that were UNANIMOUS ALL-DISTRICT SELECTIONS! So according to the coaches that saw them play the MOST...there were 3 LB's in that district alone that were better than Paterson from DMC. Not saying he's not a good player, but to make that selection over the Defensive MVP from the same district really shows very little respect for the what was accomplished by that player and his team (not to mention he lead the defense of a Final 4 team that I think proved was right there with the state runner-up that lost by a TD to Regina).

That is just 1 example of many hard to explain selections on these INA all-state teams. Not to mention moving players out of position just to get them on the teams. Didn't Nick Phillips from Regina play RB, but gets selected as a WR/TE? Didn't White from I-35 play QB, but gets selected as a RB? (btw...Phillips and White are deserving imho...just get the position correct please.) West Branch supposedly from everything posted on these boards was potentially the 2nd best team in the state, but has only 3 all-state players? Regina wins the state title and their best offensive player on the field in the semis and finals (Stenger) doesn't get selected for anything? (How do I know he was their best player because when the games were on the line...who got the ball?)

The INA invites coaches to their selection meeting to supposedly "help provide information only"...but it has become very obvious coaches and teams are getting penalized for not showing up to help with information, because a coach maybe had a prior commitment or family commitment on a Sunday morning. It appears coaches can't trust the media to give the proper weight to all-district teams that are selected by the coaches themselves. I would imagine the apparently meaningless exercise of nominating players is becoming very frustrating for coaches. Either you saw the players play as a media person or you didn't and if the media has too many commitments to intelligently make determinations based on the players they saw in their area and they can't objectively support all players in their area then quit putting out all-state teams.

Without Stenger on it, list isn't valid. As far as Regina goes, no Stenger = no state title.

Any list without Stenger or WB's Aaron Barnes (who led the state in Punt returns, had 450 rec yards, and was 2nd leading tackler) is a sham

nwmsbearcat that is exactly right man. How does the 1A District 8 MVP not even get 3rd team all state honors? But then again, what's new? Does Van Meter ever get any love from the state? I don't think they'd trade their semifinal season for DMC's though regardless of how much love the state gives them. Congratulations to DMC on their 4-6 season.

would agree with this, felt bad for RHS's Phillips & his injury. Kid is a game changer. Wish the Regals would have sent him up to get their trophy, that would have been neat to see. Congrats to all that have gotten individual accolades.

Barnsey does not belong on that list. Decent role player, but not All-State selection material for sure.

I know I'm biased but I think anyone in our district would agree Rodney Ciesielski from Jesup deserved much better than third team all state linebacker. He was very dominate.
