I don't spend a ton of time on this forum, so I hope it's ok to post this here. I apologize if it's not ok, but I figured there might be some folks on here who would find it interesting. It was announced today that former MOC-Floyd Valley standout Daniel Jansen (class of 2012) and current Augustana College (SD) Viking has been named the Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year in Division II.

Dan's still only a junior, but he's already had a fantastic career for the Vikings. Augie hosts the Central Region Tournament (which, for those who don't know, serves as the first three rounds of the NCAA D2 National Tournament) and the Vikes play their first round game tomorrow (3/14) at 5:30 PM. Augie has a pretty strong team this year and we currently have no seniors on the roster, so the future is certainly bright.

Like I said, I figured I'd mention it in case any of you Iowa HS basketball fans found it interesting. On a side note, please feel free to produce more incredible basketball players that have a desire to play at Augie. It's certainly working out for Jansen and for Augustana right now. :)

It is always nice to hear about Iowa kids who go on to find success at the next level. I remember Jansen at MOC, he was a heck of a player. Not surprised to hear he is doing well. Thanks for the update.

Great player came down to watch him play at state his senior year. Of course he had 3 fouls in the first 2 minutes despite not touching anyone so instead had to watch 3 Iowa hack refs try and show off for their Ihsaa masters
