After tonight, it appears the Iowa Star was highly over ranked. The SICL still has four left, unfortunately they play each other in district finals. . Any other conference with more than that? Just curious.

Told you the Iowa star would at itself out. I don't know if you count this as one conference, but the nicl east has 3 (Denver, jesup,AP) and the west has GR left

The West Central Conference (mix of 1A/2A) has 4 teams left and should have had 5. Van meter blew a late lead in it's district semifinal last night. Des Moines Christian, Woodward Academy and Panorama are all still in.(2A) Earlham is still alive in 1A. Panorama faces Woodward Academy for a trip to the Well.

I agree. The NICL has been overlooked as well. That league has always been a tough league. I would count that as one conference . With the SICL splitting next year, it would be good if some of the SICL and NICL teams could schedule some games.

Looks like you had Colo and Meskwaki way overrated! I saw Colo and they had one player that was decent...rest of the team was very average. They did not deserve their high ranking all year. Luke needs to get better info on teams if he is going to continue to rank them.

Rankings don't mean anything so it will be okay.

Hey there now. Overrated label is being thrown around here, just because the other teams in a league aren't up to par doesn't mean the teams that win are overrated. I understand saying the record is inflated, but I'm not sure about overrated. Meskwaki has a really good guard trio, but lost to a hot Jesup squad, but I believe they beat themselves more than anything and a mistep by the coach. Colo has a decent player in Christian R., but the other two guards weren't hitting shots. And as for Janesville, they lost to Denver by five without their starting point guard, who was averaging double digits.

Nonetheless, the season is over for my Warriors and onto the off season. I believed whoever came out of district 5 was going to be a problem at the Well, so represent GR. Best of luck to the rest of the pack remaining!

I know the Coach, and we talk often. So it's not like I don't know her as a person or as a coach, because I was a former player and have the upmost respect for her. But the mistep was going from man defense to a zone defense in the fourth quarter. That's where I believe Meskwaki beat themselves.

Through 3, the game was well played and even throughout. But once Meskwaki went to a zone, bench players lost a man or the defense would suck themselves in. Clearly the point of a zone, to shutdown the middle. Doing so resulted in letting Jesup's shooter have open shots. Their shooter was shooting somewhere between 25% from 3 all season, and had one of his better quarters all year in that game. That just so happened to be the only run of the game on both sides. 11 points is a good disparity for a W, but the game was closer than that.

It was just my opinion(unbiased) that Meskwaki had beaten themselves more than Jesup being a better team or beating them "handedly". But don't get me wrong, Jesup had a well seasoned team that just so happened to be hot.

Now, if all the Meskwaki kids that are from the settlement that attend South Tama would just go to Meskwaki High, it'd be a total different story for 1A bball.

i can't believe Meskwaki lost to Colo twice!!! Meskwaki is much more talented than Colo.

Don't even get me started. lol! It was unfortunate that they missed quite a bit of lay ups, as well as free throws. It wasn't their best game, I'll tell you that much. Compared to Jesup who statistically played their best game of the year. That's just how it goes though! I just don't believe the Warriors were "overrated".

Also, I can't believe they lost to Colo twice as well. Meskwaki has a better overall team. As I stated in another post, the first game had some pretty bad officiating that helped the outcome, but during the second matchup Colo executed down the stretch and won a nail biter. But yes, I believe the Warriors are better than Colo, but couldn't seem to win either matchup. Good teams nonetheless!

I agree. I watched the Jesup game. I was very impressed with Meskwaki's athleticism. They could get the the hole anytime they wanted to. With that said, i think they are a very undisciplined team. not only in the way the play, but their actions on the court.

The conference as a whole had to be overrated to a degree with three of the teams being ranked in the top 10 at one point and none of them even reaching a substate final. Nonetheless, I do not envy those that rank these teams especially in lower classes. It is impossible to keep eyes on that many schools.

Would you like to elaborate a little more about being a very undisciplined team in multiple ways? Just curious to read what you have to say!
