CF Football will no longer schedule teams....

It appears Cedar Falls will no longer request to play teams that will not play their soph. games against Cedar Falls.

So if CF plays Ankeny and Ankeny does not bring their Soph team to play, then CF will not seek to play teams like that in the future. Using Ankeny as an Example not the real thing

Apparently if I am correct the CIML teams choose to play their sophs against other CIML teams.

For instance our sophs did not play Ames but played Xavier instead. I'm assuming it's not just happening to CF so me, but all Eastern Teams

This is yet another indication of the difficulty many schools are having filling freshman, sophomore and varsity rosters. Hence the beginning of the discussion concerning having just varsity and junior varsity (fresh/soph) teams. We've already had two freshman games need to be cancelled/rescheduled due to low numbers at the other schools, better get used to it.

Centennial's frosh and soph teams are playing Waterloo West this week.

I can see Cedar Falls doing that, however instead of playing Western teams they will be playing just Eastern teams.

Not sure if this hurts Cedar Falls or not, but make no mistake it's Cedar Falls choice as is any other school in the State.

I wouldn't mind seeing CF play Waverly on and off and old rival East Waterloo. That would kill that deal if those schools didn't have soph teams.

If I had to guess, there are less than 8 true Soph teams left in the 4A state. A sad reality.

Some of that is also the media driving the fear of concussions into the players and their families.
