I thought Cedar Falls faced one of the hardest teams it would see all year. Ames is a pretty good team and I wasn't disappointed in their ability.to play with the Tigers as.I was at the Dome.

Ames is well balanced on Offense and was impressed with their returning skill players. Their Defense just did not have the size and depth to overcome Cedar Falls size and speed.

Cedar Falls did give Ames a Lot of cushion to their Wrs and that did give Cedar Falls fits. However that did allow them to take the run away and get a few INTs.

For the first game of the season, with all they lost, with expectations a bit tempered, they did very well. The D-Line dominated up front. They rotated quite a few guys and each did well, whether holding their gap or getting to the QB or TFLs. Bohnenkamp and Clements had 7 total TFLs and 4 sacks on that left side.

There is a ton of speed on this team on the defensive side of the ball, if a bit undersized at LB. Loecher settled in and had a great second half. A lot of dropped passes with nerves. They'll get that fixed. Grosse is a hard runner and Ostrich is a great back up. The young O-Line did well, and has a ton of upside. It will be interesting to see the difference next week. They are only going to get a lot better.

I think Ames is extremely talented, #17 6-5" 245lb TE from Ames is a beast, great hands. Ames just lacked the size and depth to stay with Cedar Falls.

I pegged Ames and Ankeny as the two teams CF would have problems with. Returning most all their skill players and C.F. Replacing most of their defense.
