While there are three potentially entertaining 3A/4A games (SCH v SCH; Bett v DA; CRX v WDMD), there are some 4A matchups that should be important:
WDMV v Waukee - Can Waukee bring it?
Cedar Falls v ICH - Who comes ready? Does CF have any offensive punch? Does ICH start strong?
Muscatine v DH - Does DH need this game to have a turnaround season? Is Muscatine a program on the rise?
CRK v ICW - New coaches matchup. Strong set of classes for CRK, potential pipeline affect for ICW.
WE v M'Town - A rivalry rekindled, but does either time find a pace?
LM v CRP - Do the Lions race around the field? Or do the Prairie Hawks play assignment football and grind it out?

I pick Valley, CF, DH, CRK (my upset pick), M'Town and CRP. But I'm guessing to get the board moving with the season almost hear.

You are really trying to drum up some spirit, loco! I'll go with all the usual favorites/suspects. I think that Dub. Hempstead starts out 6-0 and then it gets interesting (and tough) with ICW, Dav. Central and Pleasant Valley at the end. Best game on your list is Valley vs. Waukee. I have no idea on that one. Biggest game of the opening weekend is WDM Dowling and Xavier. QB Boyle is an absolute warrior and I take Dowling in the big game of the opening weekend. Looking over the state teams, I found a real oddity. Did Dubuque Senior join the MAC? Of course not, but the Rams play five games against MAC teams and only four against their old MVC rivals. Pretty weird, I think. Welcome to district football in the East.

It is not a tough choice...either bring some positive spirit to high school football in Iowa or wallow in the news of the world and national situation. Bring on Friday Night Lights!
