What every if anything came out of this discussion? There was quite a bit of talk about it at the District football meetings, but never heard anymore about it. does it have any traction? or tabled for now?

I think the state found out from the small schools 3A on down this wont work or your golf teams will amount to maybe 2 or 3 kids. What will be interesting is the state now has hired a new director in Tom Keating and I think you will see an upgrade in communication instead of just doing it their way and coaches and schools forced to deal with it.

I am hoping Keating will change the way the IHSSA works with the schools, but I fear he (and the private schools) have their own agendas. I hope he makes me eat crow!

Tom Keating is an amazingly impressive person who has also been with the IHSAA board of directors for the last several years. He's a uniter and not a devisive person. However, as he said in an interview with an Iowa newspaper, he's not coming in to change everything all at once. He'll get used to the head job and take issues as they come up. He is not coming in with an agenda. I can guarantee that he knows all the issues brought up on this board. He is also very aware of the Girls Union, having been a highly successful girls coach in sports.
