HOT off the presses and ready to ship

1) IC Regina - led 28-0 5:30 into the game. Gonna happen a lot in D6.
2) South Winn - not gonna lie, they may be the best 1A has
3) Saint Ansgar - makes a move this week. Best scoring defense in 1A.
4) West Branch - another week, another win against a ranked team. No doubter.
5) FDSE - slip a bit, but perhaps SC is better than expected? not buying it
6) West Lyon - and normalcy is restored in Lyon County...2.0
7) IKM - undefeated, but D1 is no bueno. Not impressed enough
8) Ogden - struggled this week. Gave up 36 last week. Slipping.
9) Dike-NH - as expected, they bounce back quickly.
10) North Cedar - they get Bellevue next week. If win by 21+ like I think they will, they stay.

OTHERS: Madrid, Hinton

Isn't South Calhoun expected to be a top 15 team? I guess I don't see how beating them 38-22 is a bad thing. Most of your rankings are pretty fair in my opinion. I'm not that sold on Saint Ansgar at this point. I like West Branch better. SA may have the top ranked defense at this point because they arguably have had the softest schedule.

i may be poor boying a bit.

but i'm ok with modesty :)

St. Ansgar was not exactly awesome beating a run of the mill Emmetsburg team that West Lyon beat much a worse the week before. They are too high IMO.

I would keep St. Ansgar at the #3 spot. I was at the game last night, and you could tell Emmetsburg was fired up and ready to play. Several times Eburg was at 3rd and 3 or shorter, and SA's defense stepped up and turned the ball over on downs. One of those times was within ten yards of the end zone. Their defense was outstanding. Offensively, I'll admit they had some trouble running the ball, as Eburg keyed in on Krahenbuhl and kept him to under 100 yards rushing. Ironically enough, both of SA's scores came on pass plays. Kramer proved that he can throw the ball, and Patterson and Heimer are both capable of making the catch under coverage. And in any case, how many teams are capable of shutting out Emmetsburg?

West Lyon was a garbage TD in the last minute from shutting them out 35-0 last week. They are not exactly an offensive machine. Don't confuse this team with others from the past. Not much big play ability vs good teams due to limited team speed.

Good rankings - I just have a few minor quibbles and comments.

In my opinion, St. Ansgar should be at 6th, and West Branch, FDSE, and West Lyon should each slide up a spot.

This is how I feel about the St. Ansgar / Emmetsburg game as well.

Dike-New Hartford is a good fit at #9. Hinton moves into #10 next week if they can knock off IKM. If not, the winner of North Cedar / Bellevue is at #10 next week.

Only 5 games into the season, and only 13 teams remain with zero or one loss. This seems kind of low.

North Cedar is a good team that is going to make some noise in the playoffs. They should be higher in my opinion. Teams like west lyon and ikm dont impress me. Niether team plays anyone and are not close to some of the teams they once had.

Move North Cedar to 6 and move westlyon or ikm down.

Jayden J is having a great year and most teams wont be able to stop NCs passing game come playoff time.

Some more thoughts on St. Ansgar as they seem to be most of the debate here on the board at the moment.

- Their offensive run game is rather average. As stated previously they played a lot of cupcakes so getting a real handle on how well they can play is up in the air.

- The final score was not as close as the game was. St. Ansgar turned the ball over 4 times, with a couple of those being in Emmetsburg territory.

- Kramer throws a rather pretty ball and that was a dimension I don't believe Emmetsburg was ready for.

- I would also like to point out that Emmetsburg came out fired up and were actually starting to control the Saints in the 2nd half at the line of scrimmage. St. Ansgar looked dead, as if they weren't ready to get punched in the teeth so to speak and turning the ball over kept giving Emmetsburg momentum and confidence.

- It will be interesting to see how the Saints respond this week as they play Nasua- Plainfield. I believe they are ranked in A?

- Kudos to Emmetsburg for playing really tough, especially after that rough loss to West Lyon the week before.

- St. Ansgar is probably somewhere in the top 7 in the state, but if they continue to have ball handling issues, it won't take much to bring them down. I don't know how well their defense really is because they haven't played anyone that has been deemed above average.

- Just two cents from someone who was at the game.

Ah I see. You're just disappointed because you picked South Central Calhoun to win last week.

That SA performance against Emmetsburg made the offense seem less than stellar.

I would put SA behind IKM right now and everyone gets moved up a spot.
