After 2 games have been played, I can start to keep it real.
There's some movin' and shakin' up going on.

Because, after the top 5, there are 10 teams that could be interchangeable.
The top 5 are pretty solid; the next 5? not so much.

1) IC Regina - and normalcy has returned in 1A.
2) South Winn - domination of Wapsie Valley, pure domination.
3) FDSE - the band plays on....75 times
4) West Branch - 28 points in 5min 45sec against a 2A rival
5) Saint Ansgar - perhaps I misjudged them; from NR to 5th. They earned it
6) West Lyon - because I can; they will be healthy soon.
7) Manson NW Webster - 2-0: that is billboard material
8) Ogden - Good and Lentz will need to be tough the next 3 Fridays for sure.
9) Madrid - a wolf in sheep's clothing; their style of play is not out to fool you
10) Pella Christian - This week will let us know where they are at. On the docket: 2A top 5 Albia

JUST OUTSIDE: Emmetsburg, IKM-Manning, Sumner-Freddy, North Cedar, Hinton, Clayton Ridge

Fun games for week #3

Lake Mills (2-0) at Saint Ansgar (2-0)
Wilton (1-1) at Bellevue (2-0)
Pella Christian (2-0) at Albia (2-0)
South Hamilton (2-0) at Madrid (2-0)
Ogden (2-0) at Van Meter (1-1)

South Winn is the real deal this year.
I've been playing-coaching-reffing 2A 1A and A high school football in NE Iowa for 25 years
and this years South Winn team has impressed me just as much as some of the former great teams
from this area.
Not saying they will win it all this year... but they have an impressive group of athletes.

Four of the top 10 are private Catholic schools. Interesting.
actually, only 3 are.

(ICR, FDSE, Pella Christian)
And your third one is somewhat shaky (by your own admission). One could easily make a case for putting a team like North Cedar or Clayton Ridge at #10 over PC. Regina and FDSE are legit. After that, the private schools in 1A don't really amount to much.

Sorry ..but Clayton Ridge is not a top 10 team. They will make the playoffs but that's it. A team that
seems to be overlooked is Sumner-Fred.

I saw their tape and came away very impressed.

I think IKM-Manning could be a solid top 10 team by season's end. They had a rebuilding year last year, but they do have some good athletes on offense.

Pretty good list Blameit.

IMO there are about 10-12 teams that could fit into those 5-10 spots. Too early to tell.

Hinton is another team to throw into the mix.

Here's my rankings:

1. Regina
2. South Winn
3. St. Edmond
4. Saint Ansgar
5. Sumner-Fredricksburg
6. West Lyon
7. Madrid
8. West Branch
9. Clayton Ridge
10. IKM-Manning

Good Top 10 list BlameIt - some insights that I agree with.

Clayton Ridge - I would not rank them yet. Two close wins over teams that I don't think are very strong.

Sumner Fredericksburg - I would not rank them yet. Two easy wins over teams that, again, I don't think are very strong.

Actually only two, Pella Christian is Christian Reformed, not Catholic.

Clayton Ridge is actually not that bad this year that have a lot of key players like Ryan Moser, Andrew Burgen, Colten Rasteter, Thomas Meyer , an they also have Kody Cummer back who broke the school record for sacks at cascade he had 14 sacks last year. he will not be back until Clayton Ridge homecoming game but he will be healthy and ready to play I heard he did a heck of a job at the upper iowa camp running the ball
