Sucks that Bishop Garrigan gets punished in terms of rankings for playing a hard schedule... no doubt in my mind Garrigan would beat New London, Montezuma, and Stanton by 20+ points. With their starting point guard back they are gonna start absolutely dominating even the ranked 2A teams they play week in and week out.

He played the first 4 games with a hurt foot then hurt it even more and missed 11 straight games and now he’s back. He put up 20 against Garner as garrigan beat them be 25 after losing to them earlier in the season

Hmmm according to Quik Stats, he missed 5 games.

Not to mention they actually beat Garner by 18, not 25 in the rematch. And, after the 20 point performance, he followed it up with a 10 and then 5 point game.
They do look like a good team though. Will be interesting to see how they do in the playoffs.

It’s really not even about his scoring it’s more about his change of pace point guard skills and his ability to attack the paint and find the open shooter.

Looks to me like he only didn’t play in the lost to Algona. The other 3 losses he played in. Also they gave up 91 in a game. Maybe play some defense and stop complaining about playing 2As. I don’t hear teams in the NW IA complaining about their brutal schedule they play night in and night out. I actually think the state bailed them out with their district/substate. So they will get their chance to prove their worth in Des Moines.

Is just now getting back to 100% health. And yes I do agree that garrigan has a very easy district. Will be interesting to see how everything plays out. And yes I agree it is much more about how he moves and how he runs the team at PG sport rather than his scoring. There was an 11 game span where he either did not play or did not start because of his injury. Btw sorry was an over exaggeration on the score of the Garner game.

It’s brutal in NW Iowa, don’t know why they don’t complain more! It’s why you hardly see teams from that area of the state going 21-0. Teams like Newell who are very good but play a difficult schedule get punished but yet teams like Montezuma who haven’t played anyone all year get a very very easy district. George Little Rock, who is one of the better teams I’ve seen in class 1A, still ended up with 2 losses even tho in my opinion there the 2nd best team in the state

I agree hoops in NW Ia is tough but going undefeated isn’t unheard of. St Mary’s of Remsen went undefeated in the regular season the past two years and West Sioux is currently 20-0.

Good point. Although RSM had a historically great team that season. They just ran into a team that recruits. Any other year they win state. North Linn, RSM, and GVC are some of the best class 1A teams I ever saw that year. Danville would in that conversation as well. And west Sioux is a lot bigger school then everyone in that conference so I could point to that being the reason but they are a good team

Last time I checked Forest City is not in Northwest Iowa and that was a big part of what I was saying. And there are 4 2A teams in the top of Iowa west. So no. And they do have a great record anyways

Big difference between War eagle competition and Siouxland/ lakes competition night in and night out. Not taking anything away from RSM of years past or West Sioux this year, but you go toe to toe each night against quality teams, your going to get beat. Now can they compete in 1 game if its non conference game or what not...yes sure. But when you have to do it every night you are going to have some losses.

This x1,000. Would have loved to have seen RSM compete with some of the top teams in the area the two seasons prior to this one. Instead of playing each War Eagle team twice a year, it would have been interesting to see them play the likes of Sioux Center, Western, etc. Same could be said for West Sioux this year.

Nowhere in my response did I compare conferences or insinuate that the War Eagle conference was equally as tough as the Lakes or Siouxland. I simply responded to the claim that going undefeated in NW Iowa was unheard of. As far as the strawman you are arguing with - I’m sure he agrees.

There's also a substantial difference between West Sioux and RSM if we're talking about the difference between the conferences. RSM's beds numbers are ~50. West Sioux are ~170. Those two years RSM went to state they could have competed night in and night out in the siouxland / lakes. War Eagle's average beds numbers are far less than the other two conferences and would be much harder for an RSM sized school to compete year after year in a bigger conference.

Well I’m glad to see some more people from North West Iowa on here. Never see this portion of the state get some attention on the forums, and to be frank, on rankings of most websites such as AP prep hoops

Is that the only thing you know how to respond with?

Garrigan coach did get fired. Two days ago. Assistant coach is taking over. He pulled his kid off the team and is making him transfer because of it.

Pulling the kid isn't that big of a deal, 5'8" and not really that big of a contributor.
