Thanks for posting your computer rankings, BCMoore. I hope that you can post maybe even your ranking of all teams, all classes combined. It's early and the computer needs to catch up as the weeks go on, but the early ratings do confirm one notion that I had early on and that is that the CIML may be the best or most competitive big team conference this year. Half your (sorry, I mean computer) rankings are CIML teams-- 8/16. Of course, it is also the largest conference number-wise. Two other ranked MVC teams are 3A in enrollment, so that helps explain some of the disparity. Keep posting your rankings! And (in my humble opinion) Iowa City West is still the best 4A team, one loss already or not, no matter what the computer thinks. Thanks for your good work.

Went to the game Friday in Rock Rapids (CL #6 in 1A vs WL) and their top player was sitting out because of team rule violation (his hair was too long). I understand that he is a pretty good football recruit as well. If I am a college coach and recruiting him for football I shy away from this one. If he is being that selfish not to follow a team rule and sit out games because of it - what is he going to be like in college. Get your haircut and help your team WIN. You are a senior finish your career strong son!

Got to agree with usfhawk. Whether he realizes it or not there is a clear message being sent to colleges looking at him and regardless of the sport the message is not positive.

If I were recruiting I'd also wonder if the long hair situation is really just masking a different problem of why the kid is on the bench.

I'd agree. Whether or not the kid agrees with it, just play the game. If he chooses to keep his long hair, then he's choosing to sit out and is really only hurting himself as the team will play with or without him.

Good to see the 1960's crowd is alive and well in this thread. You're really going to agree with a coach putting a kid on the bench because he doesn't like his hair cut? What next, the kid didn't wear nice enough clothes to school? The kid didn't hold a door open for someone?

Maybe the kid is growing his hair out so he can cut it off for locks of love because his young cousin has cancer, and it's a way he can support him/her.
