Sorry BC...but..Don Bosco beat Northwood Kensett (twice), Adair Casey, Janesville, Springville and EEHK....and you still have them as #2. That is five of the schools in your top ten. I can't give your rankings much credibility this time.

good points by all

1. Computer uses a game-margin model. Consequently, a 4-point win is not particularly conclusive to the computer.

2. If the computer always had the champion as #1, would you suspect a bias?

Congratulation again to Don Bosco 2013 champions!

Yes, in this type of playoff format 99% of the time the champ is #1. Where it gets debatable is #2-#5. How is a 4pt win not conclusive? I'm generally a big fan of your computer model, but this proves there are some huge holes in its logic. I don't know the specifics of your specific program but perhaps there needs to more weight given to head to head games when the losing team is still ahead, maybe weigh the playoffs games more heavily in each subsequent rounds, maybe something else I'm not considering since I'm in weekend mode, but no way should the state champ be #2 to the team they beat in the finals.

I know the better team doesn't necessarily always win, especially in the regular season, so my head to head weight probably isn't the best idea, but when looking at an aggregate of a season, an undefeated state champ needs to be #1 given the format iowa playoffs. Even if they aren't the best team throughout the season, winning 5 playoffs games means you are the best team at that given time frame.

but thanks for doing it as it still seems better than all voted on polls.

Yeah, these seem to be the most screwed up rankings I've ever seen. Shouldn't 8-man be the easiest class to rank, since no teams can play any teams from the other classes?

E-EHK still ahead of the team that just beat them in the title game?
WBM ahead of MMC? They split 1-1 on the year, but MMC won the playoff game.
WBM and MMC ahead of NF? NF just beat both of those teams in the final weeks of the season. NF beat WBM by 16...pretty convincing margin considering they're ranked 6 spots lower.

It seems to me that your computer has a little bit too much love for certain districts. Last year, it was D1 and D2. This year it's D3. You can't honestly expect us to believe that 7-4 NK is better than 12-1 NF? I know they played some close games against Don Bosco, but this just doesn't add up.

I still think the better team is #1 in these rankings. Not taking anything away from DB, however, I do think Exira-EHK was the better team and just let things get away from them.

On the contrary, Exira was lucky to be in the position they were in. If DB doesn't drop the balls they did (I'm talking about legitamate dropped balls, not passes defended by exira), they win by a couple of scores. Credit exira for stopping DBs rushing offense...but DB was their own biggest enemy when it came to passing offense.
