BCMoore needs some updating to its calculations. How is a 4-3 Beckman #9 and a 7-0 Anamosa team which is very good only 3 spots ahead of them and 3 pts stronger. NF Valley is a very good team but I'm doubtful they should be in the #3 position with 2 losses.

Beckman would beat Anamosa. Don't believe me, wait for the playoffs. Beckman was not playing up to their full potential at all early in the season, but actually have a decent amount of guys back from their dome team last year.

Anamosa 45 Mount Vernon 42
Mount Vernon 20 CPU 13
(CPU probable to take 5th in district 3)

This point margin just doesn't look very convincing and I am not sold on Anamosa just yet though they are a good team, I do not think they are top 5 worthy.

Some thoughts:

Computer generally thinks that Anamosa and Beckman are very close in strength.
Computer thinks Beckman's schedule was substantially harder.
If Anamosa played Beckman's schedule, they might be 4-3 also.

Too much emphasis on where teams start and that is based too much off where teams finished last year. I understand that its very difficult to look at every team and what they lost or having returning but it then messes with the rankings thru the year.

I'm not saying Beckman is not good they are and overall 2A D3 is much stronger than D4 but Beckman has 3 loses. 1 against a 4-3 1a opponent who is 1-3 in district play (at Beckman) and 1 against a weaker 3A opponent who is currently 2-5. 3 of their 4 wins have been against teams in the lower 3rd of the BCMoore rankings who have a combined 4 wins total. Sure they have a fairly tough schedule initially on paper but they really haven't had a super tough schedule to date considering what the teams have done that they have beat. Even when you add in the win against NFV who is 5-2 the ave wins of the teams they have beat is 2.25.

I mean if there wasn't some discrepancies in the calculations then IC Regina wouldn't be # 2 in 1A 17 points weaker than the #1 team in 1A who has 5 games underperforming according to the numbers.

I'm not sure if it is constantly recalculating based off what teams have done throughout the year or only takes into account the numbers when you beat/lose to a team. If a team beats a high ranked team who falls off dramatically because of graduation it should be recalculated so the win doesn't show as strong as the year progresses.

Anamosa has a triple threat on offense (maybe quadruple threat) and has a very aggressive run defense. They are good....certainly better than their last year's team.

I also agree the NE Iowa district has several tough teams and that Dyersville Beckman should be a team to watch out for along with North Fayette and New Hampton.

Don't forget Waukon. They've beaten some good teams including Beckman and throttling New Hampton last week. IMHO they are the team to beat in D3 maybe all of 2A.

Both are good but both are somewhat one dimensional emphasizing the run. Anamosa has only completed 28 passes thru 7 games (4 per game). Mt. Vernon had some success against Anamosa thru the air as did Clayton Ridge against Beckman. Both play solid run defense and would be a fun smash mouth game to see. Haven't seen much of Beckman but I can tell you Anamosa is very physical and returned basically everyone from a fine team last season.

NFV beat Waukon by 40 points..

Someone is blind to see the throttling NFV put on Waukon a couple weeks ago..

That NE Iowa district is a conundrum....I don't believe that comparing scores against like opponents tells the whole story.....but I would look at where teams are trending and it seems that both Beckman and NFV are trending positively at the moment.
