It’s still there for football. I said it would only change when demographics changed. They didn‘t change much. The players still come from there. North Carolina and VA have improved their positions which is about the only change. But the SEC is still the Top Brand conference and are taking advantage of it Because VA Tech and VA have fallen off.@Bill_D how bout that corridor 🤣

Tennessee produces as many or more D1 players than Alabama or Mississippi. Certainly more than South Carolina, Arkansas.
Try another excuse
So close....If my wife would let me share my seed, I could change that.
With women dhe....sorry.
So close....

That has nothing to do with it. Slighty. less than 50% of all college football scholarships given go to players from high schools in the ”corridor. The schools in the corridor have the best chance of getting the best players in that group. Look at Clemson and FSU for example. That allows them to cherry pick elsewhere. Schools outside the corridor have less chance getting the best players in the corridor.Tennessee produces as many or more D1 players than Alabama or Mississippi. LSU can’t get all the players it needs from LA but it has a better chance of getting good players out of TX, GA. and FL than schools outside the corridor. LSU only has bad recruiting years when it loses players from LA.
I’m not sure about how this works but football is a bigger sport in the corridor than outside of it. But TN has 50% more people than LA for example but LA seems to have more quality football players per capita than TN. Thats generally true thru out the corridor. This is true of AL, MS, South Carolina. Being next door neighbors to the larger states makes it easier For them to get players from those states. With Hueple(?) as HC it may make it easier because of the FL connection but it will still be a fight to get for TN to get players out of FL and GA.
This situation developed when the Blacks started qualifying. The population for LA is about 50%. This increased the pool of players dramatically in the corridor. They stay even closer to home than the white players.
I didn’t make this up. It was in some sport magazine. But it makes a lot of sense. When I wrote about this a few years ago I knew but I guess age got me. I don’t think it’s SI. That was their reason for why the SEC took over after the year 2000. That was when the Black players gave them the edge.
The portal has given schools chances to get fixes to weaknesses In their rosters each year. There are over 1000 players in it I think. They can find players who for one reason or another want to change schoools and people outside the corridor can get these players as well as people inside the corridor. You build good by recruiting and you do like the pros you use the portal like free agency to fix a weakness that you may have each year. There are some good players in the portal with good reason to want to switch. That really helped LSU last year and will help this year. In future years not so much because LSU is recruiting well and will need fewer players from the portal. But every little bit will still help.
Then you didn’t read it it very well or you don’t understand the English language. Not my theory. Mostly facts. Tell me why TN‘s highly successful coach could maintain TN at a high level and watched the other SEC schools pass them. By the end of 2007 they were out of it and have not come back yet. That might be the dumbest shit you’ve typed
Yes…I know that is a bold statement
It flies in face of your whole theory 😂
By the end of 2007 they were out of it and have not come back yet.

Hopefully they don't have a Saban coming down the pipe though.
What did you do the previous 15-20 years? Will you be able to consistently keep it up? That remains to be to seen? What Did you win? Some games, no championship. You didn’t come close.2 games out.Th Did you miss that corn holing we gave you in Baton Rouge last fall? 😂

Anybody who doesn’t keep up with what influences recruiting is behind. The recruiting changed about 2000 because of Black Athletes. Where do d most of the Black athletes come from? The corridor. Schools like AL, GA, LSU, FL, FSU, Clemson have strong brands. Why shouldn’t they get the best athletes near them. It would be strange ced if they didn’t. Make no fluenbones about it high Brand schools with a good recruiting coach are going to get the best of the elite around them. Schools like TN with a good brand and coach but not in areas of a lot of elite recruits can do well but nor as well if they could in an area of many good recruits. it’s not so much a matter of the first 10-15 recruits, it is a matter of the last 10-15..
That’s one of the ways the portal has helped. The portal players are more influenced by brand and coach than location. I honestly don’t recall, was Hooker a transfer or was he a freshman recruit? I don’t know.
Yes. But Bama is a brand team, #1 or at least top 2 or 3 In the country in an area rich with elite recruits, Those teams with a top coach recover fast. Bama played in the SECG the second year and won used everything the third year.Has a lot to do with Fulmer not adjusting, then hiring Kiffin-Dooley-Davis-Pruitt after it.
Frankly, very similar to the wilderness Bama walked through after Bryant died. Hopefully they don't have a Saban coming down the pipe though.
Plsyers win games, not coaches. Coaches can put good players in a position to win, but you can’t win without good players. If Fulmer had continued to get good players like he did before the demographics changed he would have continued winning. Those coaches didn’t make that much difference. TN is a high brand team that recruited nationally. When things started changing in recruiting after 2000 and the biggest number of elite players came from the corridor his brand opponents in the SEC surged ahead on getting better players.
