80 Yard Field

Why do they go between the 20 yardline and the end zone on the other end to make the 80 yard field. One wsy to have the 80 yard field(and need a portable pair of goalposts) is what Minnesota did when our reduced player football used an 80 yard field. And that is go between the 10 yard lines and on PAT attempts(And field goals if tried) and move the ball up 10 yards for those attempts

Sounds like that would remove the ability to run fakes?!?!

ON FG attempts if there was a fake run(And IIRC in our 9 Man there no fake FG run) they moved the chains up 10 yards. On PAT attempts the ball was placed at the 100 yard 3 yard line and you could run a fake if so desired
 
Why shorten the field in the first place? I can understand the need to narrow it from sideline to sideline, but what is the point of cutting it to 80-yards?
