Central Lyon/ George-Little Rock @ #2 Spirit Lake
Central Lyon-GLR has been playing good football of late and has gotten two nice wins so far. Spirit Lake continues to roll and I think their skilled position players give them an advantage here.
# 10 Mount Vernon @ #3 Anamosa
A very good quarterfinal contest with two teams continuing to prove they are the real deal. Mt. Vernon’s passing game has been on point to this point. Anamosa has seemed to be very hungry all year long to get to the dome and have a more complete offense which gives them the advantage here.
#4 South Tama County, Tama @ #1 Albia
The best game in 2A and maybe the best in the state. South Tama has a very sound offense but their defense has been absolutely impressive all year. Albia has a very strong ground game and also boasts a good defense. However I think South Tama can make a few more plays in the air and their defense gives them the slight advantage here in what I think could be a classic.
#5 Waukon @ #7 North Fayette Valley
A rematch from earlier in the year which NFV won convincingly. Hesse and company have bounced back nicely and are putting up some very good numbers especially in the air. NFV has been solid all year and I think their size and physical play may trump Waukon’s more finesse game. Should be a much closer game than the first.
