Super- interesting tidbit-- LeMars' star Tyler Borchers and four Dub. Wahlert starters all played on the Martin Bros. AAU team this past year!!! On the 17U team 6-7 Borchers played with 6-6 wing guard Josh Carter, and on the 16U team, Wahlert starters Cordell Pemsl, David Wedewer and Riley Till (all juniors) would all practice together against Borchers and his squad for several weeks. Nice article in the Dubuque paper this a.m. about Tyler and Cordell being AAU buddies and how much they respect each other. Wahlert coach Tom English expects a very tough game because of the intensity with which LeMars plays. Should be a great game. May the best team win!

David Iwowari plays for 16U also but because he was new transfer last summer he wasn't eligible to play in NCAA sanctioned events. It will be a great Martin Brothers battle! GO Bros!

Lemars has had a great run and I will be rooting for them tonight but I think Wahlert will just be too much for them to handle. Borchers won't be able to win this one by himself so maybe if Lemars guards can get hot from outside they can make a game of it. This Wahlert team is one of the most talented 3A sqads I have ever seen though and I expect them to show it tonight.

Cheering for LeMars but Wahlert too good. Whalert winning helps public schools though in the long run. Gotta believe IAHSAA feeling heat with private school success. Pemsl looks like a college player IMO. Needs to play smarter but he's the real deal and he's proved it time and time again.

Pretty sloppy first half for both teams. A couple dumb fouls got Borchers and Pemsle in trouble. Lemars playing more aggressive and it has got them the lead. Hoping things pick up in the 2nd half.

Wahlert is up 11....so no need for a disrespectful dunk in the 2nd half. Twitter will be outraged if it happens.

Wahlert proves what many people have thought all year, they are the best team in 3A. Even with Pemsl fouling out they were just the better team that whole 2nd half. Their defense really took over the 3rd quarter holding Lemars to just 5 points. Josh Carter played great down the stretch and really pushed them to the win. I was really surprised Timp made the all tournament team over him.

Lemars had a valiant effort but struggled to hit anything outside all game going 0-11 from 3. You are not going to win many games shooting like that. If they could have gotten a couple to fall it would have been a whole different game. Still a great season by Lemars and of course a great season for Wahlert as well.
