3A State Talk - Spirit Lake (21-3) Vs. Xavier, Cedar Rapids (16-8)

Burger just took over the game as soon as he came in. Spirit Lake is going to need Kriener to show up in the second half of they are going to get back into this.
With the first half in the books, looks like Xavier will be tough for Spirit Lake to beat. Better ball movement by the guards and big men also. Disappointed in Kriener's play on offense, but maybe he'll come alive in the second half.
Iowa better drop Kriner and pick up Jansen. Spirit Lake is not very good , might be the worst fundemental team I've ever seen in a 3a state tourney. Can anyone on that team not jump in the air before they pass.
Was the guy 5'7. Kriner has alot of work to do. Hawks must see something no one else does even at 6'8. Must have a high GPA to help out the team GPA.
Spirit Lake may have two D1 players, but Burger was the star of that game. Without him Xavier doesn't win. Xavier did an excellent job guarding Spirit Lakes big two. Neither could really get going.
Neither looked or is a real D1 player. Like SL's trip to state someone was handing out gifts.

Don't turn this into a bash on Spirit Lake. Xavier plays a brutal regular season schedule and it helps them here. Their kids made plays and it showed.
This game proved how bad the seeding system is. SL a #3 seed was a joke. They looked like a 1a first round district losing team.
Look Spirit Lake looked bad. But they arent as bad as the comparison you just made. Come on man. Kreiner is going to be a project at Iowa. This has been a known fact. I think the hope will be that he could be another Woodbury. Brown is a good player. The rest of the players are not that good right. Got it. But give me a break with the Spirit Lake is GARBAGE nonsense. They are still much better than teams like Solon and Chariton.
Solon is a maybe Chariton no way. For a team that is suppose to have TWO D1 players , they are not even close to good. I see why Western Christian beats them by 40.
I think Chariton and SL are similar. Have a couple of good players (SL with the edge), but no strong supporting cast. I also begrudgingly agree with Cruzer that SL is not coached well. They could have done something differently with Kreiner based on what Xavier was doing to him underneath, but nothing seemed to change until the end when Kreiner had to come out and shoot 3s.
Missed that one on website. Matter of fact missed most of MOC vs Wahlert 2nd quarter as site was in and out. Could get audio fine but video was way behind then would catch up. 2nd half was fine though. Can't imagine a top seed being worse than SL which makes the Boone clowns look even worse than they already do.
Spirit Lake's coach can't coach. He can run programs into the ground though.
With the two guys they had, there's no excuse for them to not be in the 3A final. Just goes to show you how important coaching is

Combination of both. Coach was a joke. Two players were not that good vs decent competition. Other players were just terrible. They had no business being at 3a state tourney , the 3a final was a pipe dream.
