10-10 after 1. Hopefully another great tourney game underway. BTW, how/why does NW Iowa produce so many good HS basketball teams? I've worked the Clay County fair a few time as a vendor (carney) and those towns show up for things. I'm not knocking western IA, I just don't get why people stick around. Their mid-size towns (5-10k people) haven't seemed to suffer the same "brain drain" of eastern Iowa towns (kids who move to Des Moines, Chicago, or Omaha after college). There must be something good in the water there.

Western is a basketball power!! Very impressive set of athletes. They lose some solid players, but will bring back plenty of talent next season. Who will replace Eekhoff?

Not a very entertaining game. But, I tend to prefer scoring over defense.
I still found it entertaining in that my team won, but agree about the pace.
The combo of Cascade's slowdown strategy and those marathon TV timeouts really mess with Western's style.
Came down to more weapons on offense and size on defense.

This tourney had a lot of examples of why a shot clock would be desirable.

Whoever commented earlier about a jerk fan behind the Cascade bench had it right. Loudmouth kid didn't do his team any favors by mocking a ref the entire game. Maybe he'll grow up & realize what an a$$ he looked like.

More industry and more diversified farming operations (livestock) meaning more farmers. Good clean towns for the most part, and closely knit families. Plus they don't wanna leave and surround themselves with democrats out east!
