2A GAME TALK: Pella Christian (20-4) vs. Van Meter (23-1)

Should be a competitive game, but I expect PC's senior leadership and experience at state to be the difference.

Half-time Van Meter 20 Pella Christian 14

Both teams played some very good D that first half. Especially Van Meter, PC had a tough time getting into an offensive rhythm. That freshman for Van Meter is impressive.

I can't help but notice that although it's Western/Unity's "sister school", PC's kids are not near as homogeneous of a group as the Sioux County schools. A little cross breeding with the more populated urban areas?!

VM deserves a ton of credit. They came to play.

Hats off to Van Meter, one of the teams to beat next year. They got the game to their pace.

PC had the experience to get past a tough team despite a first half shooting performance that was quite possibly their worst of the year. Van Meter certainly deserves some credit for that.

Survive and advance!

So the top 2 seeds both escape with close wins after being down at half. 2A sure is deep this year. Van Meter played a great game. We will see them again as they are a young team. PC's experience was big as they never panicked and found ways to get the buckets and stops they needed to win. It wasn't pretty though. Jungling just could not get his shots to drop. Pringle stepped up though, without him I think PC would be going home.

Slow start, but nice effort by PC down the stretch.
Like that Jungling was still confident in his shot in OT despite being cold all day.

Just like the Western game, it seemed like the underdogs wanted it more, played great, but just not quite enough to steal an upset.
Only thing that surprised me was the PC shot selection when they were sitting on a 5 pt lead. Shortening the game is more critical that an OK look to the basket.

Will need to step it up an notch for Kuemper.
