Just curious. I agree totally it could go either way but if pcm shows up to play it will be a great game, good Iowa fri. night football.
Nevada was getting quite a bit of pressure in the 1st half, but none in the second half. Keep in mind, Pat Girard, CMB's best lineman, missed the Nevada game with an injured ankle. He'll be back for the PCM game. Their starting RB also got dinged up a bit, but is healthy again.
Really, outside of one first half drive and the last time they got the ball, nevada did little on offense, and the last drive CMB was playing prevent and just trying to keep the clock moving. Their D is doing MUCH better shutting down running lanes, especially up the middle and they're getting good pressure on QBs. Dobson gouged them for like 230 yards last year, I think he ended up with less than half that this year and little of it was inside. This is actually the best I've seen them play defense since probably the year they made
state semis in 07 or 08.
Oh, one quirk from the Nevada game, after their last TD, Nevada ended up kicking off from their own 20. They took 4 off sides penalties trying to on side kick. Weirdest thing I've seen, they looked like they had never practiced it. At one point they had two guys running up like they were going to kick, then they both stopped like they were confused. The rest of the team kept running and the kicker kicked it with about 8 guys already 5-10 yards downfield.
I still think the game is a toss up, but I'm a bit more comfortable knowing Girard will be back. I think a big part of their passing issues the 1st half was him not being there.
