Don’t know what to think of D5 with Regina, West Branch, Durant and Mediapolis as the top returning teams. Lots of skill position players returning for each especially at the RB position. Not sure about OL for each, I know Regina lost a lot on the OL, but I’m sure they have some good younger kids.
Regina lost all of it's OL. They develop kids better than anyone. Daniel is a stud RB, and their QB was quite serviceable. They always have good skill kids.
WB hit the portal and got the QB from Liberty (North Liberty) HS (just shy of 1200 yards passing). Henson is a good RB and they return much of their receiving corps.
Mepo will go as far as Isley and Egan take them. If Isley has a down night, they just don't have the firepower to hang. Their PK is one of the biggest weapons in the class. Has a P5 D1 leg.
‘ WB hit the portal’ did you intentionally leave out ‘just like most years’ or even ‘again’?

The new QB isn’t the only transfer West Branch got from IC Liberty. Guess WB coaches didn’t think last year’s QB was good enough to get a 2nd year behind center.
Yep. He and his friend (who hasn't played FB since 8th grade) open enrolled in January. They are the only open enrollees on the roster.
Is the QB expected to start/compete for playing time?
School district is about 11% open enrolled in which isn’t a crazy number, more total open enrolled in than Solon, comparable to other similar schools about 1/2 as many as Van Meter.
A) yes. He is penciled in to be the starting QB.
B) And about 89% less than Regina 😜
Ignore the fairly consistent OE at a school that that has supporters that like to cast unfounded aspersions about other schools?

He took a jab a WB and only WB. Heck I thought it was kinda funny. Then you had to try and make it a "Well, WB gets transfers every year" argument.
For the record, WBFB hasn't had a true open enrollee play for them in 3 years. But by all means keep trying to drag it out. Every time you do, Killer, I will tell you that private schools have 100% open enrollment. It's a verifiable fact.
If you read what I typed (you know, context), you'll see I complimented Regina. I joked about WB getting a portal player. Sorry that rubbed you the wrong way Catholic dude. I then complimented Mepo and their kicker.

Was at Auburn Thursday/Friday and Alabama today. Performed well, not much else to report. Was at Missouri and South Carolina last week. ISU this past Tuesday. Next week is Iowa and Baylor then Georgia the following week before his 5 day Top 40 camp with his trainer with some live streamed on YouTube. Trying to fit in NC State the last week July after Kohl’s National Camp.
A number of other schools (Wisconsin, Michigan, Miami, Kansas State, Notre Dame, PSU, probably a couple I’m forgetting) wanted him in camp, but we can’t make it to all of them. It’ll be interesting in the fall when coaches will be able to contact him instead of us making all the contact.
So now there is OE and ‘true’ OE? Got it. So the op takes a jab at WB and only WB and it’s all good. Sorry if I pointed out that WB has a touch of a history with OE.

It is, my wife is traveling with him this summer due to work commitments, but they’re enjoying it. I’ll probably post periodically about it. We’re hoping for at least one offer coming out of camp season, but not sure if someone will pull the trigger. He’s close on some, but it’s a waiting game. It’s really early for specialists in his class. One of his friends (kicker) just got an full scholarship offer from Miami yesterday and he’s the first in the class for specialists to get one who doesn’t have a dad on a college staff. Most ‘23’s don’t even have offer yet.

Mepo deserves kudos for his son. He is performing at an elite level. Mepo is also a darn good poster that doesn’t sink to the level of some of the other posters.
Even though I am old my memory is still fairly sharp and I recall most of the unfounded, inaccurate and honestly just made up posts that other posters chose to post when Regina was on their championship run. Some posters…. such as yourself have had an axe to grind for whatever reason. I am not sure that I have posted things that have not been factual. If so, point them out and I will own them. Probably won’t find me doing the ‘geez I just hate that school because my feelings are valid even though there really isn’t anything to support them’
You also probably can’t find me doing a ‘woe is me’ thing. Every single student at Regina is recruited. I believe I have been very clear and posted that a myriad of times.
If following up on Go Eagles comment on the ‘portal’ bothers you well then that is probably a you thing. The fact that my post was factually accurate doesn’t seem to matter to you.
So feel free to look for my ‘lies’ and call me whatever names you choose. Name calling generally occurs when you lack facts to support your position.
Feel free to list the ‘lies’ and schools I have attempted to drown. It should be a lengthy list according to some.
And I will continue to give props to Mepos son and the journey that they are on. The posters that took their inaccurate shots will continue to have their situations pointed out as well.

When WB and Regina play, just look on the sideline. If he's there, he's coaching. If he's not, he's just being a normal parent and watching his child play FB.
BlameIt posted something a year or two ago that chronicled every single OE kid WB has ever had. You guys still mocked it and called it a sham.
So i do not, nor does anyone else, owe you any explanation for anything. You wouldn't believe it anyway..
Since 2019, WB has had exactly (3) kids who open enrolled be a part of the program; two of which are for the coming season (one of which hasn't played FB since junior high). The other player graduated this year, and was special teams only. Got in a couple plays when scoreboard was favorable at end of game.

Correct, no explanation is owed to me. Not sure I really asked for one. I may need to go review that legendary post to refresh my memory. There have been some kids that have been deemed to have oe’d for reasons other than joining the program, they ‘moved’ or other legitimate reasons. Just happened to also play football.
Currently it appears that you all agree on the facts. Not sure why you got so defensive when Eagle made the portal crack and pine presented facts that both of you agree are true.
Heck way back when I only got annoyed when posters were wrong, lying or had no clue. Interesting response to facts that appear to be agreed upon.

Fun fact: did you know that there are more kids at Regina (3) that play sports who open enroll FROM West Branch than OE kids who play football FOR West Branch (2)?
Does WB get some impact OE kids? Yes.
Does Regina? Yes.
Do 85%+ of the schools in Iowa? Yes.
The reason I get "defensive" is because you and Pine attempt to paint WB with a very bad brush. When, in reality, if it wasn't for open enrollment, your beloved Regals wouldn't have a team, let alone a school.
The Stone Cold Bottom Line: West Branch gets OE kids. Mepo gets em. South Calhoun gets em. Treynor gets em. West Lyon. Pleasantville. Etc, etc, etc.

Everyone at Regina is OE, been pretty clear on it. Go after Eagle, he went ‘portal’ I chose to add ‘again’ they are developing a pattern of pretty strategic, talented OE kids. Blame laid it out, facts and all. My apologies for agreeing with him.
Not sure on why you are so sensitive about it. At least what people are saying about WB is backed by facts. The fun stuff that was hurled at the school 8 miles east were generally made up or flat out lies for some reason. Try working through that part. If I mention something that isn’t factual let me know, pine probably feels the same way. Your intense desire to rationalize the facts only makes the issue stick around.
