There will be a new Champion in 1A this year as Regina defeats top ranked, two time defending champ Dyersville Beckman in penalty kicks, 1-0 (5-3).
Regina will face Assumption, who defeated Gilbert 2-1.

In 2A, Xavier hands Iowa Falls their first loss of the season, winning 4-2.
They will face Norwalk in the 2A Championship game, who easily defeated Perry, 4-0.

Your State Champions are:
1A - Iowa City Regina
2A - Norwalk
3A - Iowa City West

Regina earns their 6th overall State Championship by defeating top ranked two time defending Champs Beckman, and then coming right back to avenge a regular season loss, by defeating second ranked Davenport Assumption 1-0 in the Finals. Regina's 6 total Championships moves them into third alone, behind only IC West and Xavier. Regina didn't allow a goal the entire State Tournament. They started just two seniors and had a freshman goalkeeper this year that came up huge in the tournament.

Norwalk defeated Cedar Rapids Xavier in the 2A finals in a game that went to PK's. Final was 2-1 (4-1 PK's). Two great teams that are regulars at the State Tournament played another outstanding game. Norwalk wins their 4th Championship in school history.

Iowa City West wins the 3A State Championship, defeating WDM Valley 1-0. West flew under the radar much of the season, but they showed once again that they have the coaching and experience to win it all if they get the chance. West emerged from their 'hibernation' in a big way, adding to their Championship total. They now have 9 State Championships, the most of any team in Iowa.

Another great season of Iowa soccer is in the books. The level of competition appears to get better and better each year.
